Story @ Yahoo! NBAThe NBA gave J.R. Smith a warning - and then a $50,000 fine when he ignored it.
The league penalized the New York Knicks guard again Wednesday, this time for ''recurring instances of unsportsmanlike conduct'' after he tried to untie an opponent's sneaker for a second time in two games.
Smith untied Mavericks forward Shawn Marion's shoe while they were standing next to each other during a free throw attempt at Dallas on Sunday and was warned not to repeat the act by the league office.
Bush league stuff, though I guess you have to admire his nerve:
Coach Mike Woodson had said before Tuesday's home game against Detroit that Smith shouldn't be doing things like that, but the reserve guard then tried it again on Greg Monroe during a free throw attempt - with league disciplinarian Rod Thorn in attendance.

He might want to concentrate on tying up the
loose ends in his game than on other players' shoes.

Again i say

seriously though jr smith isnt worth the money there paying him talent wise.

And now the Knicks are shopping him around. Will there be any takers? Lol.

JR is trying to be the evil version of Javale McGee.

I imagine someone will take the risk. If players like Kwame Brown can stick around as long as they do, Smith will find a new home. The Knicks might have to take cents on the dollar, of course.

Stop hating on Kwame, Andrew.

Hey, I just wanna be like Mike.

"I'm not addressing anything else with JR. Just not gonna do it," Mike Woodson.

JR Smith pisses me off so much. Having to coach an idiot like that would have me in rage mode all the time.

http://espn.go.com/new-york/nba/story/_ ... ching-fineSure JR Smith is a bonehead but I thought 50k fine was bit excessive especially considering that second shoelace act actually wasn't pulled (But I also saw it as more of a joke). Besides that, I think the Knicks are happy to have found a great guy to point fingers at. Woodson was under fire all season, then Melo for not being able to do jack, ofc there's Felton that played shit and hurt, Bargnani playing like the worst rebounding 7 footer in history, and now thanks to JR, attention completely has shifted over to JR.

J.R.'s always been a knucklehead. But last season, the Knicks were winning and J.R. had a career year, so his transgressions were overlooked.
Funny thing is, J.R.'s not from the 'hood'. Dude comes from a two-parent, middle-class background and went to good schools.

You don't have to be poor to be an idiot...

Really disappointed in the way JR Smith has handled this situation. PIsses me off when guys don't appreciate the golden opportunity they get by playing the game of basketball for money.
Wed Jan 15, 2014 3:41 pm
Envious much?
Wed Jan 15, 2014 4:15 pm
JR Smith got another DNP - COACH'S DECISION without any explanation tonight. What the heck is going on there in NY.
Wed Jan 15, 2014 4:25 pm
They are trying to force JR to do something so stupid out of frustration that it will allow them to nullify his contract and kick his ass out the door.
Thu Jan 16, 2014 3:36 pm
But JR already knows that. And Woodsoon won't be able to do this for long. I mean, how long is he gonna make him feel frustrated?
