I found out my dog became blind just tonight. Not totally but very close to like 98% (& I prolly told you she was deaf). She's suddenly become a really slow/wobbly walker in recent days. I thought it was due to a weather and just having a bad days(maybe cold at worst). Then I took her for a short walk unleashed, she wobble walked, legs crossed, almost fell over, so I picked her up and went back home right away. She was yelping unusually. She just lied down completely non mobile in bed, with an arched-back, and wouldn't allow me to touch her, Did a quick google and it sounded like a disk. So I took her to a vet, first vet I visited turned out to be a complete motherfucker that nearly smacked my dog for nipping his finger which I was able to block as I was holding her. Then saw me visibly upset and started shouting some crap excuse like he was just trying to push my dog away. Fucking nimwit, it's just a 11 pound dog nipping your finger because your stupid muzzle failed to work and your approach was way too aggressive/amateurish. The smack came way too late to consider it a defensive move, and power he unleashed was way too fucking excessive. It was friggin retaliation hit. He sounded like a some crooked/arrogant vet from oversea with transferred license anyway. So I said Fuck It I'm not letting you touch my dog and left. So a second place I went, they were vastly more professional(but known to be more expensive, turned out to be true, $420 for just diagnostic) and confirmed it wasn't disk but blindness in her vision, otherwise healthy for an aged dog. part of me was VERY VERY relieved that it wasn't a disk but I've been in a huge mental distress/trauma since then anyhoo. I am not taking this too well, is pretty tough, sad.

It's your punishment for going Green.

Was the dogs name Greg Oden?
On a serious note though, dog lover here myself (

) that's fucked up...I'm sorry to read about that and hope she learns to live with it and keeps you guys company for some years to come still.

I'm sorry to hear that man. But what are you gonna do with your dog now? I mean, it has to be under surveillance all the time now, right? Otherwise, she might fall of the stairs and stuff like that.

OMG! LOL!! That's so funnies! You are very funny.

Sorry to hear about the condition of your dog IN GREEN. Does the vet tell you if its possible to heal(I don't know the right words to use) the blindness via an operation?
In a positive story, if I don't have a failing grade this term, I'm going to graduate in May and have a 5 month vacation after going through the year of doing internship + going back to school to finish all of the remaining subjects.
EDIT: damn shadow having to correct me about my grammar, then again my grammar sucks

Congratulations dei. I wish you the very best!
As sad as Novu's story is (my dog will turn 13 in February and thank god, he's still healthy) I wan't to continue with a more happy story too. Just quitted my job as a lawyer three days ago. I was accepted to a job in legal administration (Civil Aviation Authority) the same day which happens to be my birthday. I had to chose between more money, less work and better career possibilities and an underpaid job that really sucked. Choice was easily made as I am allowed to continue to work as a lawyer in my spare time.

lol I didn't correct your grammar I said it's not positive news because it still has the possibility of not happening.
That's like saying 'Good news everyone! I will be a billionaire!' without currently having a billion or a plan how to do that.

I don't usually vent, but at the moment there's not much else I can do. So, might as well...
My friend was nearly beaten to death today. About 10-12 guys jumped him and another friend of mine. The other friend escaped with a few bruises and stuff. But my friend who could not escape was beaten badly. They used stuff like rods, bamboos & sharp objects to beat him. This friend of mine does student politics, but he never did anything violent. And I was at home(far) when all this happened. My friend who escaped called some guys and went back to the scene, seeing them the attackers fled. But before that, they were still beating my friend even as he was unconscious and bleeding. Guys took him to a hospital. He's in the ICU at the moment. He has severe injuries to the head & stab like wounds all over his body. And some broken ribs. His left eye is also damaged. He's 19, keep that in mind. And the worst part of it all is that I can't go to see him. There is no sort of transportation as there is a 24hr strike going on and it will be like that til Wednesday. Walking there is not an option. I'm in constant contact with my friends over at the hospital but that's pretty much it. Kinda feel sucky that I'm not able to be there for him & his family.

Sorry to hear that. Praying for your friend
Sun Dec 22, 2013 5:35 am
Sorry to hear something like that. Wishing your friend all the best.
Sun Dec 22, 2013 6:34 am
It's so sorry. I hope he heals soon.
Sun Dec 22, 2013 7:12 am
I hope they find the thugs who did that, legally arrest them, be given a fair trial, if found guilty be put to jail, and get anal raped by a black inmate with a 12 inch dick.
Sun Dec 22, 2013 12:14 pm
That is just sickening and disturbing to hear. It sounds like they even had the intention to kill your friend. They will be brought to the justice so stay out of trouble yourself, SoF'nAwesome. We will all pray for your buddy for his full recovery.
Sun Dec 22, 2013 4:33 pm
Any reason for the 10-12 guys to beat your 2 friends?
Sun Dec 22, 2013 8:15 pm
Thanks guys. You are good people.
My dad was able to pull in some favors & hire an ambulance. We will go to the hospital in that. Ambulances & media vehicles are usually off-limits to all the random violence that takes place during these strikes. We should be able to reach the hospital in about a hour and a half. My friend is out of the ICU now. The doctor said that the only permanent damage he will have is his left eye. Chances are that he will not be able to have any vision in that eye. And just to get normal(walking, eating normal), it will take about 5-6 months bed-rest.
I wish law & police here were like how you guys mentioned. Actually there were two policemen who were standing right across the street. They didn't interfere because they were outnumbered themselves and didn't have any sort of weapons.
dei. wrote:Any reason for the 10-12 guys to beat your 2 friends?
No particular reason. Just that he's in politics. And we are assuming the people who attacked just took advantage of the scenario that my friend was outnumbered and in a not so crowded place. My friend who escaped thinks he recognized one of the attackers. But we are not worried about that right now.

SFA, where do you live?

My computer went into an infinite BSOD loop today. After a bit of googling, I ended up running a disc check, or whatever it's called, on the OS drive. It said it couldn't run that while the disc was in use, and asked me to schedule it for next boot, which I did. Rebooted, BSOD, then I booted into safe mode. It's been stuck at the "please wait" screen, loading all the drivers and such, for hours now.
I assume it's frozen, and isn't running the check in the background, right?
According to the event log, a handful of drivers couldn't be loaded. Some looked like they were AVG related, others I have no idea. I've not recently installed or updated anything, hardware or software, system restore didn't work, and a Malwarebytes scan came up clean, so it's looking like hard drive failure.
Is there anything I've missed? And if I do need to replace the drive (which could hardly have chosen a better time to die), does anyone know how to backup the disc version of Arkham City? I asked here last time I reinstalled Windows backed up all the folders mentioned, and had to start over. I don't really fancy playing the entire thing all over again.
EDIT: Went in to check on it, expecting to still see the "please wait" screen...it'd booted. Properly. However, when I tried to open Firefox I got a "couldn't load XPCOM" error. Now I'm completely lost.

Well, koberulz. That's what happens to you when you visit unregulated pron sites and click on fishy 'freebies'! Let this be a lesson to you young-uns out there.
SoF'nAwesome wrote:But we are not worried about that right now.
Exactly. Nothing else matters other than your friend's well being. Keep us updated, I'm sure everything will be fine. Stay strong my friend and stay out of trouble. It's part of growing up.

Reinstalled Firefox, and everything's fine (except that my taskbar disappeared and wouldn't come back, but a reboot fixed that).
Still no idea what caused the BSOD, though.

User error.

So, finally at home after 4 days. Stayed at the hospital & at a friend's house near the hospital. My friend who was injured is able to speak now. Although, the doctor recommended not to. But who cares? It was like a get-together of friends. Everybody was talking a lot, especially the injured dude. But joking aside, we are all relived that he will be healthy again with time. Because, the guys said that he looked pretty messed up at the day of the incident. Pity about the left eye(not completely blind, but very little vision), but we are all just thankful that everything else will be back to normal again one day.
I will go to visit him again next week. But the chaotic time has passed, hopefully.

I'm sorry for the late reply mate. Well, I live in the 2nd
BEST(#139 - 38.7) city in the world!

You have been a very awesome dude & a great friend to me, much respect & thank you.
As for revenge, you know how young(we are all 19-20yrs old here) brains work. My friend who managed to escape was very eager & rushing us to go the campus of the people who jumped them. But I with the help of some older brothers managed to cool him and the other guys making them understand that more guys at the hospital is the last thing we need right now.
And at last, I didn't see a thread for it. So, I'm just gonna wish you guys Happy Holidays here at this thread.

Cheers to 2014, guys.

Indeed. A couple of my friends threw a great party, so I enjoyed ringing in the new year with them and the rest of our group. Hope everyone had a good night/early morning and got through it safely.
