Re: The Knicks Thread....

I'd suggest Melo will only opt out if he wants to leave or believes they'll sign him to an even bigger deal. Amar'e and Bargnani would be fools to walk away from the money they're getting.

WTF was Mike Woodson opting not to call a timeout! Definitely confused Melo and resulted in a poor desperate heave. :turrible:

Im so frustrated at Woody for not calling a timeout! Stop blaming Melo he was confused,HECK the whole team thought he was going to call a timeout.

LMAO
The Wizard made it look so easy that I thought they were 90s Bulls.

Wow, that was a rather embarrassing blunder. One could argue that Melo should've just called timeout if he knew that the Knicks had one left, seeing as how Woodson seems to have fallen asleep there, but I guess it just highlights the level of dysfunction with the team at the moment.

That and the bigger blunder in my opinion was the players not fouling on Washingtons possession. They had a foul to give. Udrih should have fouled Beal on that drive before he went to shoot.

So Woodsons days are pretty much numbered in NY, right? No way he keeps his job if they continue like this.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Possibly, though I've heard that the lack of viable replacements might save his job, at least in the short term. During the Bulls/Knicks game last week, it was mentioned that Allan Houston might end up as the interim coach if Woodson is shown the door.

Look at the defense on the play, Udrih is signaling from the very start of the isolation that he's trying to force Beal to the corner, and then after the basket is clearly saying that to his teammates. But nobody backed him up and he's not the defender to be able to do that alone, he couldn't recover to foul let alone stay in front. But had anyone helped they could have probably clobbered Beal in time. None of them, especially Bargnani, should have been so far out on their man when they were clearing out the entire side of the court for Beal which meant they were looking for him to shoot. (And Gortat's no threat out there.)

I mean, pause the video when Beal gets to the paint and look at that spacing.

Shumpert said team didn't discuss calling a timeout if they allowed a basket on WAS's last shot. Said they largely assumed they'd get a stop

"largely assumed they'd get a stop"

Wow, what a logic.

You'd think there'd be some kind of Plan B, or a willingness to improvise should everything go pear-shaped. Apparently not.

Andrew you said it best - is there an NBA franchise more dysfunctional than the Knicks?

Knicks stink from the top down. Only reason Dolan's in charge is because his rich daddy handed him the team. People at the Garden say he's a hot-headed know-it-all who thinks he understands the NBA because he has Isiah in his ear.

AAAAUUUUGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!

What the fuck Bargnani. Up 2, shot a 3. Really shows how dysfunctional the Knicks are this season.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Thu Dec 19, 2013 5:09 pm

Wow Chandler comes back and makes an immediate difference. Too early to tell and this one was against the lowly Bucks. But perhaps they can turn things around kinda like the Nets?

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Thu Dec 19, 2013 5:15 pm

Bargnani's shot was definitely ill-advised but here's a stat for everyone to mull over: J.R. Smith was 5/17 from three point range. That's getting close to Damon Stoudamire's 5/21 performance back in 2005.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Thu Dec 19, 2013 5:42 pm

He even didn't know at first he shot 17 attempts from 3.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Thu Dec 19, 2013 7:22 pm

I'd try to get rid of J.R. Smith more sooner than later. He's been more of a fire extinguisher than a spark for the Knicks offense lately.

On the bright side, they did ultimately win the game. Perhaps it's the Bucks who should really feel bad, all things considered.

Re: The Knicks Thread....

Fri Dec 20, 2013 5:37 pm

I'm sure the Bucks will be comforted by the 25% chance to win the number one pick.

Shoulda paid Jeremy Lin his money. Melo said Lin was getting overpaid but look now. You really need him.

Raymond Felton is supposed to be better than Lin. That is why.
