I must have been too late. Yesterday they said 2K14 releases today, and I go to add it and it's sold out and they will notify me when it's available. Also killzone won't be shipped until mid December, so I get Assassin's creed to play. So yeah, Assassin's Creed 4, NBA 2K14, and Killzone.

My two games from that Amazon deal have already arrived. People that had preordered a game got a code for that deal a few days ago in order to get their games today.

I think Target in US is doing the same deal as Amazon as well.

Upgrading PS4 HDD to SSD.

I have a 240gb ssd that I have yet to get around to installing because all my slots are being used. Oh dear.

PS4 to have MP3, CD playback features after fan outrage. At least they weren't dumb like Microsoft and try to stick to their guns. They admitted they fucked up and will change it

That makes my decision a whole lot easier.
Still waiting for the post-Christmas sales at the earliest, but at least I won't feel the need to wait until there are enough details about the next WWE game to know about custom entrance themes.

Ps4 shipped! Woo-hoo!
Fri Nov 15, 2013 6:04 am
Looks like I get to do my first midnight launch tonight. I've done plenty of waiting-for-the-store-to-open pickups, but other than waiting for 1am to start my GTAV download on PSN, I have never gone to a true in-person midnight release. Hooray to getting mugged in 9 hours!

Live stream it!

Should have my PS4 in about 11 hrs or at lesst that's what my anticipatory erection is telling me... Gonna pretty much mail it in at work today...

So I got mine at midnight. I was the only one there, janitors and stockers were confused, manager was nice but annoyed that someone actually showed up, but w/e.
Threw in 2K14 after getting 1.5 to start downloading (I had the USB stick ready, but didnt use it). 2K14 requires OS 1.07 installed to play, which is on-disc. So I had to wait for that to download and then reboot/install. Had lots of disconnect errors with the 1.5 update downloading.
2K14 requires you to install the game before playing it all. Was limited to Spurs vs Heat, no commentary, until the install finished. 1.5 finished downloading during this, decided to wait for 2K to finish installing before, well, installing 1.5
It finishes, I try to install 1.5, but it doesn't exist any more...needed to redownload it (much quicker, but ugh, still 300mb). So I watched the Live 14 stream to pass time.
1.5 finishes again, install, yay, server errors with signing into PSN and Twitter and Twitch....ugh. Forged through it all to get to....a required 2GIG 2K14 patch. Watch more Live and Madden while that downloads (very quickly btw, at max speed for me ~4-5mb/s)
Loaded up, started Twitch, very easy and quick to do. Had great times, good night.

I told you to Live stream it. That would have been funny.

So basically, don't plan on playing anything the day you get the console?
PS4 is region-free, right? Has anyone figured out if that extends to movies, etc., or just applies to games?

it took maybe an hour, hour and a half tops? I would recommend doing the manual OS update though, or just don't play anything that requires the 1.07 update while it downloads and installs 1.5
no idea about region stuff
Sat Nov 16, 2013 4:18 am
Does it even play DVD/BD movies? I've just assumed it does, but given its initial lack of MP3 support...
2k would be the thing I'd put in first--possibly the only game I'll have for a while--so I'd be going through the same process as you. A 2GB download, based on my experiences with my internet connection, would be five or six hours at a minimum. Why can't games be playable out of the box anymore?
ETA:
Region-free for games, region-locked for Blu-Ray. Now to decide if finally being able to watch the 2010 Finals is worth importing a console...
Sat Nov 16, 2013 4:45 am
I got mah PS4. Probably getting 2k tomorrow at Target or something.
Sat Nov 16, 2013 4:48 am
koberulz, game is playable after you install the 1.07 OS update from the disc first. You are limited to the "demo" of Spurs Heat with no commentary until the disc installs. Then you can play as normal...but without any online features until 1.5 OS is installed and the 2gig 2K14 update.
Welcome to the next generation, just like the last one, except with bigger patch downloads.
