As recapped
here on BDL.
That player was Ossie Schectman, which I must admit I didn't know until today. I knew that the first BAA game was between the Knicks and the Huskies since that piece of trivia has popped up a few times of the years, but this is the first time I recall coming across that particular tidbit. Anyway, there's footage:
Pretty good innings at 94. RIP.

Nice basket on a fastbreak. Nice balance, speed, etc.
RIP.

Third in the league in assists that year, with two per game. Times have changed.

Them NBA pioneers are a bunch of ballhogs.
Probably a stricter criteria for registering assists then, like if the receiver took one dribble or held the ball for more than a second and then scored the assist won't be counted.

Why did Ossie Schectman end up playing only one season in the league?

Because players then have day jobs. Pro basketball is just inserted in between. Could have gotten a promotion in his job with better pay.

Cool.
Yeah $60 a game doesn't sound much though back then it must have meant much more.

The basket that started it all.

Good to know he lived a long life as well. RIP.

Considering inflation he would have made 718 dollars in today's US money.

listen james could destroy anyone he plays during any time period but he is such a nice guy he never fully dominates them. he allows the games to be close and even lets the other team win from time to time so they feel good about themselves. the reality of it is james could score 60 a game and win the mvp award playing only 1 quarter a game

I'm not sure about 60 ppg but he definitely has the physical abilities and the skills to go for ~35 ppg along with 7.x apg.
