Bill Simmons @BillSimmons
That rumored Celtics-Nets trade is so bad for Boston that Doc Rivers just quit on the Celtics again.

3 1st might be this yrs pick(nets 22), 26 from minny(via brooks trade), and 2015 1st? 2014 draft class might be that great not to give up. Might need some useless money from Proky to buy some picks too.

There’s no indication that Garnett has yet to be consulted about waiving his no-trade clause for such a possible deal, sources tell Y!
Would also help the cap situation of the team when KG/PP's contract is up. Still rumors tho, but wow..

If this ends up happening then it seems Brooklyn has some extra fire power.

Wow... they let go Pierce
I just heard in NBA TV that the Nets starting 5 will have a salary of 81 million

(D-Will - JJ - Pierce - Garnett - Lopez)
Holy shit

I think it's a very good trade for Boston. It's a bummer to have to take on Wallace's deal, but given their title window has closed and Rondo will miss a chunk of the season anyway, Garnett and Pierce had only sentimental value to the team. The first round picks in 2016 and 2018 could be excellent, and this one will be in a much-hyped draft class.
Brooklyn's plan was to contend at all costs, and with this deal, they're as stacked as anybody. The Nets considerably improve their team in the short-term while the Celtics get a fantastic rebuilding package.

The race is getting intense by every minute. Seems like 76ers are in full tanking mode now, not really interested in Bynum and no Jrue. And Celtics ofc.
And LoL @ the Pistons getting mediocre at pretty bad time.

PP was ask before where he would want to be if traded and said Nets, then there were rumors of PP for Hump+Brooks+Picks(HBAP) but eventually faded.
About that 81M $, if you have the RICHEST SPORTS OWNER IN THE WORLD, that won't be a problem. Nets sweetened the pot for KG, agreed to guarantee KG's $12M 2014-2015 salary.

^^^ THIS, I thought Crash's contract would be untradable(props to BK and Proky's Wallet) and might be the deal-breaker, that's why I was holding my self since the rumor's began(don't want to jinx it lol). And it was a surprise about that KG's NTC, that was soo fast. Makes me even happier that we can have our cap space after KG/PP's contract's are up.

Do you know that Johnson's contract will be at around $24M nearing the end of his contract? Where's the cap space? $27M off the books won't help, either.

That's an awful lot of luxury tax, but I guess Prokhorov has deep pockets.
KG and Pierce probably have at least one or two more productive seasons in them, while Wallace was being paid a lot to not fit in. Short term, it gives the Nets a couple of very capable veterans and future Hall of Famers, another solid veteran in Terry and of course, two younger players in their prime in Williams and Lopez. It remains to be seen how they'll all gel and what kind of job Jason Kidd will do as a rookie head coach, but it's certainly an interesting and promising situation in Brooklyn.
For Boston, I guess it jump starts their rebuilding era in a big way, though taking on Wallace's contract doesn't help much and it remains to be seen how useful those picks will be, especially if the Nets become a top team in the East for the next few years. Still, I suppose it was time for them to move on.

$81,492,650 just for their starting five next season. I guess if you've got the resources to do it, why not?

i think next years pick we get NJ or the hawks pick, whatever is better so i am rooting for the hawks to have a bad season. after that we got the 2016 pick which will probably be real late in the round but the 2018 pick could be really nice for us. by then kg and pierce are long gone so it will depend on how he restocks after that. i think we also have the option to swap in 2017 with them so if we get lucky and they start to drop after pierce and kg retire we might get a free move up in that years draft.
i expect them to try and trade rondo also. i would like to see them unload wallace in the rondo trade but thats probably asking for too much. i like the moves so far but we need to make more if we want to hit the bottom and have a shot at the top pick

does this mean a "Tank Mode" for the Celtics for "Wiggins"?

If Celtics somehow ends up stealing #1, I am likely to jump on the Celtics bandwagon after Wade retires. Wiggins is a very nice player with a very nice background. Very likable.

I hope the 1997 NBA Draft Lottery repeats itself for the Celtics with Wiggins.
