Wall's form could end Wizards' six-year All-Star drought

Image

John Wall has always struggled to cope with the burden of being a number one pick, but this season he is finally playing to his potential and is dominating games.
His play, coupled with that of recent draftees Bradley Beal and Nerlens Noel, has propelled the Wizards to heights that were unimaginable in the previous decade.
This young group of Wizards players have put together some great stretches of basketball this season and now find themselves behind only Philadelphia and Miami.
It has been Wall though that has provided the spark for their success. He is leading the league in assists at such a rate which hasn't been seen in over two decades.
Many experts have tipped him to be selected for the eastern squad in this year's all-star game; maybe as a starter. It's hard to argue given the season that he is having.
In the thirty-three games Wall has played so far this season, there has only been one occasion when he didn't manage at least eleven assists. It's an amazing statistic.

He has reached the twenty assist mark seven times this season, including an NBA-record-breaking thirty-one against the Bulls at the United Center in early January.
Impressively he has also managed twenty-three double-doubles as well. He not only runs the offense for his team, but he also scores crucial baskets when needed.
Wall's numbers have changed a fair bit since last season. He is only scoring 14 points per game, down from 20. But his assists have doubled from 8 to 16 per game.
Washington haven't had a representative in the all-star game since 2008 when Antawn Jamison and Caron Butler were selected as reserves for the eastern squad.
Certainly their fans will be hoping that the baron spell ends this season with at least one player representing them. The voting is ongoing and time only will tell.

I can see Wall doing it, he has a lot of potential. You are dishing the rock aswell.

Loving it, keep it up :)

Surely with his average he will be making it this year!

I don't see why not. Wall deserves it.

I really hope he makes it. It would be pretty annoying if he got snubbed given his numbers this season.

Even if he doesn't though, I think I'll probably have Beal and Noel in the rising stars game anyway. Hopefully they will be on the same team so I don't have to choose :P

I had a video of MKG sinking a contested three to send the game into overtime, but the stupid game wouldn't let me upload it. :(

Wow, 51. What the. I can`t tell what I`m impressed of though. Beal going 51, Noel going 26-11 or Wall with 21 assist. It seems like it was a really fun game?

I'd probably say Beal's game impressed me most. 21 assists is pretty standard for Wall this season after all. :P

The fact that Noel contributes so much offensively is a major positive for me too. When I drafted him I only really expected him to be like a mini-Ibaka and be mainly a defensive weapon. He's really taking up the slack from Favors, who hasn't been that impressive to be honest. Wondering whether or not Favors deserves big money in the off-season or not.

Yeah, I think he's pretty awesome. He not as flashy or exciting as someone like Harden, but he's a great range shooter and can jump as high as anyone when dunking. :D

Pretty happy with my backcourt for the next decade (fingers crossed). (Y)

did you make Wizards red to avoid confusion?

Re: Wizards [24-11] - Wizards control Magic in Washington

Pretty much. There are a lot of teams that use blue and red, so I'll probably just switch between them to make it easier to read.

Beal only had 2 points in the first half. But he scored 16 in the fourth and won me the game.

It probably would have been an easy win if Thornton hadn't been white hot from everywhere on the court.

Had that problem in 2K11, rated so low but goes off on you at any given time.

Griffin 'blocked' Favors in the paint in the last second to stop me sending it into overtime. Not sure if it was a foul or if I'm just angry at losing. :(

You got out-rebounded too I guess? Pretty much a disappointing game cause of Bledsoe's triple-double.

I think I did. I mean one of their guards got like twice the rebounds as both my big guys. :( Beal made up for the Bledsoe triple-double in the next game though. (Y)
