KNICKS(2) vs CELTICS(7): 2013 First Round

Thu Apr 18, 2013 5:59 pm

Knicks: 54 wins / 28 losses
Celtics: 41 wins / 40 losses

I can sense this series will be very competitive.

Celtics in 7, and a fight in one of the first 3 games of the series.

Celtics in 7, I think they'll be able to overcome this one. But the Knicks aren't going take it easy on them.

I'm afraid Knicks will finally advance and take it in 6. Nevertheless this seems like a really promising and intriguing series.

New York in 5.

Knicks were impressive but Carmelo struggled to score against the Celtics this season. He shot 35%. Probably the reason why three people voted for Celtics in 7 because their defense can kill it, kill it good.

Knicks in 6. Melo will score 25+ every game.

Knicks in five hard fought games. The Celtics have been so resilient in recent years but Allen's not there anymore, Rondo's out, they're banged up and inconsistent...I think they've got enough heart and talent to avoid the sweep, but it's New York moving on. They'll have to earn it, though.

You guys seriously think that the Celtics will win 3 games? Not a chance I say Knicks in 5

I guess it's because the Celtics have shown so much resiliency over the past few years. Every time it's looked like they're done, they've eked out 50 wins or made it through to the Conference Finals and been a game away from upsetting the Heat. With their depleted roster though, it seems unlikely this year; like you, I picked the Knicks in five.

This is the only East 1st round series I'm interested in.

Knicks grind out a tough win. Excellent defense in the 4th quarter. And Jason Kidd is one of the smartest cats I've ever seen on the basketball court. He beats you with his mind. He does the little things that help you win at crunch time. Props to Kenyon Martin with 9 boards.

Revisiting the infamous Melo-trade, perhaps things have come to a point where at least we can have a two way discussion? Because prior to this season, the Nuggets seemed to be the clear winner. The Nuggets still have more wins to their record since the trade, but they also haven't got outta the first round just like the Knicks. And both have good chance to get to the second round this season. What's left out of Melo trade for Denver are Wilson Chandler and injured Danillo. Is it still a case of addition by subtraction for the Nuggets?

The Nuggets have also since benefitted from the trade that brought them Andre Iguodala, so they've continued to shape their roster. Likewise, the Knicks have put together a better team that is playing reasonably well together; while Amar'e injuries are unfortunate, the silver lining is they've probably resolved a few conflicts regarding chemistry and pecking order, and they don't seem to be missing him all that much. It's fair to say at this point, both teams have been able to take some positive steps forward following the Melo trade.

Why do trades need to have a winner.

It's not like the Nuggets didn't know if they're going to get a player as good as Melo from that deal before they accepted it.

They don't need to have one, but it's one of the things that's naturally pondered after a deal goes down; which side comes out better in the short term and long term.

1. Something to argue about.
2. Dopes refuse to accept the notion of voluntary mutually beneficial trade. If things aren't zero sum their worldview is threatened.

Fuck that. Nothing in this world is mutually benecial. You think you are getting your money's worth at Mickey Ds?

Value is subjective and ordinal.

Stop pushing for feminist agenda. This is real man's league. Not girl scout softball match where everybody's a winner.
