Friday Five: 5 Ways the NBA Was More Enjoyable in the 90s

Sat Apr 13, 2013 12:50 am

In this week's Friday Five, I'm waxing nostalgic about the NBA in the 90s:

The five ways the league is more enjoyable today will be coming next week.

I agree with the list 100%, particularly the point about Marv Albert. He's to basketball what Richie Benaud is to cricket; the iconic voice that is second to none.

Great read. (Y) I was born during the 90's, so I hardly watched any basketball during that decade. My interest for basketball grew during the late 2000's. I can agree on the Marv Albert part; his voice and style of commentary are two components that were made for calling NBA basketball games. Having watched a few playoffs and Finals games from the 90's on youtube, the defensive grinds and physicality of the game back then also made the game more enjoyable.

Probably the best part about the 90's in my opinion was the Rockets' two championships. :D
