DFP's Houston Rockets Dynasty

I will be starting my new dynasty tonight, and keeping track of my progress on this post....stay tuned.

28-game season
6-minute quarters
All-star level, with sliders adjusted so that's it's about half way between all-star and superstar (Superstar is a bit too much vs cpu for me )

heh....i ran into some problems that kept me busy with my league (http://www.nbalpl.com) but i promise i'll start this dynasty soon. lol

The Houston Rockets have begun the 2003-2004 preseason with a splash of trades, to help build around the new powerhouse duo of Yao Ming and Tracy McGrady. Here's a list of the transactions.
TRANSACTIONS:

Houston has released B. Nachbar.
Houston has signed G. Rice and A. Rigaudeau from free agency, to 1-year minimum deals.

Maurice Taylor and Tyronn Lue to the Los Angeles Clippers for Marko Jaric. -"We are very excited to add Marko to our team. We hope to build him into the superstar PG of the league's future."

C. Weatherspoon and A. Griffin to the Los Angeles Lakers for Luke Walton and J. Sampson- "Luke Walton is going to be a very special player in this league, and we're happy that he can now call Houston his home."

Mark Jackson to the Milwaukee Bucks for Daniel Santiago.

Juwan Howard and M. Wilks to the Denver Nuggets for Chris Anderson and Francisco Elson- "Once again, these are two players who we really feel are going to have a great future in this league. We feel we are making the right moves for the future, of course...but we also think that every one of the players we have acquired is ready to contribute here and now. I can't express how excited the Houston Rockets Organization is to have acquired such talent. We would like to thank the Clippers, Lakers, Bucks, and Nuggets for their cooperation in these deals."


From today's press conference:
"As you can see, we are lacking at the PG position, with no current backup, but we plan on trying on Rigaudeau, Piatkowski, and Gaines all out at PG, and see how they develop. We really like the group of players that we have, so we are hoping one of them can find their way to the point."

In what is promised as the last deal of the preseason, Houston has traded disgruntled SF Scott Padgett to the Boston Celtics for PG Dana Barros.

"We finally have our man at PG. What else can I say? Dana is a high-class player who will bring alot of veteran leadership to our young team. We're glad to have him, and hope he can finish his career here in Houston."

nice a Houston Dynasty without the Franchise, but w/e you should try trading for a point guard, but i guess with t-Mac you dont really need one that much cause he can do it all, so atleast try to get some defense at the point guard, that way the your back can come in play D, and not have to have the ball in his hands all the time,

Marko Jaric is way underrated. You should try him out. He's an amazing pure PG. And, about "getting some defense at the point", Jaric has a defense icon and does great on steals. You really should check him out. Oh, and it's a Houston Dynasty "without the franchise" because I did the T-Mac/Francis trade (also to the stackhouse/jamison trade) before i started the Dynasty. The Rockets just finished a thriller in their first game of the season (versus the New Jersey Nets, at the Nets' home court).



The Nets got into serious foul trouble early, with Richard Jefferson picking up two quick fouls in the first 45 seconds of the game! Rodney Rogers came in much earlier than expected.


The first basket of the game for the Rockets, a fast break dunk by Tracy McGrady. What a way to start his Houston career!

The Rockets were up 27-19 after one quarter of play. The Netsslowly worked their way back in....and built up a sizeable lead by halftime:



Marko Jaric really stepped it up in the second half, leading his team to vitory:



The final play of the game, with 2.3 seconds left on the clock, a HUGE dunk by Yao.



Final Score: HOUSTON-97, New Jersey 87

"They really gave us a run for our money, but our guys showed that our style of team basketball is what's going to win us games, not a one-man show like NJ had tonight with Jason Kidd doing all the work. We played team basketball, and our TEAM won the game. Yao Ming's 7 blocks tonight were truly impressive. Glen Rice was HUGE off the bench for us. His signing from free agency is proving to have been a great decision."


Looks like Houston will be a force to be reckoned with on defense, with 3 players in the top 5 in Blocking.

"I don't have many comments on this game. We just didn't get it done. We flat out got beat. The Magic were the better team. Yao did his part on the rejections, as usual, but he really needs to step up his scoring if we are going to stay on the plus side of .500. Kudos to the Orlando team. We did have some spread out scoring from all of our players, but it wasn't enough. I'm truly disappointed."

"I'm not sure what we are going to do with Jimmy Jackson. He's got alot of class, but he's just not fitting in with this team. We're going to explore our options, that much is for sure. And we still have $14 million of capspace to work with, but we would rather save that for this coming offseason."

The Rockets have pulled another trade out of their hats....

Jimmy Jackson and Reece Gaines have gone to Chicago for underachieving Eddie Robinson.

"We know E-Rob very well, and we are confident that he is at a time in his career that he will be able to help this club win some ball games. Eddie is going to start for us at small forward."

The Rockets also made another move-- a very bold one, at that.

Houston has signed free agent SG Joe Forte to a 7-year deal.

"You may call us crazy for signing Joe to a long-term deal, but we know his potential, and we're going to do everything we can to give him a winning environment, so one day, he can take over for T-Mac.", the GM said with a smile. "Seriously, though, Joe has tremendous potential, and this contract should show him the faith we have in him as a player. We see big things in the future."

Joe Forte surpassed all expectations in his first game in a Rockets uniform....



A full game report will come later today....but for now, I'll just let this stew...this will bring up some definite Tracy McGrady trade rumors if Forte keeps putting up these numbers.

If you use the players that you suppose to use like Yao a little more other than Glen Rice and people that are overrated with their shooting in the game you would do better. Try looking at the stats in the NBA so you can get more realistic player stats.

uh..thanks alot, but i never once said i wanted anything to be realistic. this is a video game not to be rude to anyone, cause i do appreciate anyone reading this post, but i really don't need any suggestions in terms of how to play the game, been playin it for years, and i know what i like i play this for fun, not to have an NBA sim. And, I don't need to look at NBA stats to see that my team's stats aren't even realistic, I don't aim to make them that way. Thanks though

I am putting this dynasty on hold for the moment, an opportunity came up in the "real world" that is going to limit my computer time, so I'm going to focus the time I have on my online league, and my "player dynasty" when i have the time. Thanks for those of you who gave comments I'm not quitting--just taking a break
