Questions about Nba 2k13 on PC

Tue Jan 22, 2013 9:13 am

Hey Guys,

Since two years im playing the Nba 2k Series (2k12 & 2k13) on Xbox 360 .I only played with Sim-World Rosters or other great Hex Edit rosters( i hate those 2k Rosters). But now i saw those amazing Edits & Mods which are only available on PC.
So i thought to buy 2k13 or 2k12 for PC. As every Pc "noob" i have some questions :

1. Can i run Nba 2k13 on my System ? If yes on which graphic settings ?

Windows Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition (build 7600), 64-bit
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 240 Processor (Dual-Core)
Graphics Card: GeForce 8800 GTS (256 Mb)
Total RAM: 4.0 GB

2. 2k12 or 2k13 ? Im not interested in Online playing . Im just wanna play some my Player , historic match ups and some up to date associations...For me its also important, that i can fully customize players like i want to (custom shoe colors, change Cfs etc...). I saw 2k12 has great Mods and Rosters, has 2k13 also some great Mods, edits and/or Rosters ?

Thats it , i hope everbody is understanding my bad english , and that someone could help me and give me some infos/answers :D

Thank you for your time

Greetings Max

According to that website above, you can run it on high settings. Scroll a bit down to see the "System Results" and double check the hardware I entered matches yours.

Id definitely recommend 2k13 over 2k12 because of its much better gameplay. I havent tried a lot of 2k13 mods but I am sure people will constantly be putting in efforts into 2k13 modding as time passes by like they did with 2k12.

Thank you for this quick answer . I also tested if my system can run that game , and according to http://www.systemrequirementslab.com my system failed because my Video Card (8800 GTS) has only 256 MB (or 320 MB) Video RAM instead of the required 512 MB to run Nba 2k113...well is this a big problem ?

I am not sure about that man. Hopefully someone else here can answer that.

Thank you bowdown

I just bought it for 20 buckets and i will test tomorow if it works (hope it works with my video card)
apart of that i have some questions about those Mods ...

i saw that there are different types of mods ?

Can i run different Mods at the same time ?

What are those Global mods ?

If i run an mod , can i also install different rosters that are working with that mod ?

is there an good overall mod, that gives me up to date rosters, fixed jerseys and courts, shoe edits etc...or should i download and install them all separated ?

I know many queation at one time , but im absolutely new to that kind of business, im sorry :D

It depends. The more mods you install, the more likelihood that it might be in conflict with another mod you installed. It is best to keep track of the changes you have made to the original game. When you want to install a new mod, just try to make sure that the new files will not overlap or alter with another mod that you previously installed.

Some mods will work just fine when installed simultaneously with other mods but some can create problems. You may have to re-install your game if you end up altering too many files. As long as your 2K13 Saves folder is safe then that shouldnt be a big headache.

I havent tried many mods yet so that is all I can tell you. I dont have a favorite because Ive barely even tried any.

Just browse the NBA 2K13 Downloads page to see if something you find interesting: downloads.php?cat=148

Also this sub-forum is where people release their mods individually: viewforum.php?f=149

Just start out by installing a few basic mods like roster alterations, jerseys and you will eventually understand how applying mods works and when you should be careful.

Just played a few games . Looks good but i have a problem wiht my FPS. I can only play with 25 FPS ...even if i play on low settings there are only 35 FPS . Can someone help me with this ?
Maybe my Video Card is to old for that game...should i buy a new one ?

If yes , which one should do it (dont want to spend a lot of money) i want to play on High Settings with good FPS.

Is my Video Card the problem or the other ingredients of my PC (CPU, RAM) ? :

Windows Version: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate Edition (build 7600), 64-bit
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 240 Processor (Dual-Core)
Graphics Card: GeForce 8800 GTS (256 Mb)
Total RAM: 4.0 GB

Your RAM is sufficient for 2K and a lot of other games
How much money are you willing to spend? Do a lot of research yourself too on the internet to find out about which video card would be best for your needs for now and into the near future.
Also make sure that the video card you are about to buy is compatible with your computer's current hardware. Make sure your PC meets the power supply needs to properly run the video card as well.

I have a Ati Radeon HD 5670 1GB video card which is considered a beginner gaming video card. It plays 2K13 maxed out easily and gives me around 35-40 FPS on Battlefield 3 multiplayer on medium settings.

PS: My CPU is AMD Phenom II x6 1045t

RAM: 6GB

I would ask some people about your CPU as well. because I am not sure about CPU strengths much at all. 2K is a CPU intensive game more than it is video card intensive.

And just check this article out. These guys made a decent gaming PC for $500. Just take a look to help your understanding a bit better about how to get some nice cheap computer parts for yourself.

Youre the best man

Well my CPU and Video Card should both be traded for new things thats right - For a new video card i think ill buy this one here : http://www.msi.com/product/vga/R7770-PMD1GD5.html

But i dont know if my CPU is the problem . who could i ask for that ? i found nothing specific like that question on the internet.

Does anyone here knows if an AMD Athlon(tm) II X2 240 Processor (Dual-Core 2 x 2.8 GHz) can run 2k13 on high settings with around 50 FPS ? Would be nice if someone could help me so that i can solve that problem.

ATI Radeon 7770 1GB that you want to buy is 44% stronger than my ATI Radeon HD 5670 1GB card according to this website.

http://www.game-debate.com/hardware/ind ... quirements

Your CPU AMD Athlon II x2 240 is 175% weaker than my AMD Phenom II x6 1045t according to this website again.

http://www.game-debate.com/hardware/ind ... quirements

Surf around on that website to compare more hardware you have questions about.

My CPU is a 6 core CPU so it has pretty decent power. Yours is only a 2 core CPU which is probably pretty outdated by now. Look around on that website to examine the fine details of other hardware. Just hover your mouse over the "Hardware" tab at the top of the webpage and then select according to what you want to find. You can compare two hardwares against each other to see which one is stronger like I just did.

Also dont forget to look for other video cards that have the same strength as the one you want to buy but may be cheaper.

Hope you figure it out.

A GDDR5 2GB Graphics card and an i7 CPU@3500mhz should cost less than 400 euros and would be ideal

Re: Questions about Nba 2k13 on PC

If i would play more games on PC i would spend 400 Euros . But NBA2k13 is the only game im gonna play pn PC , and just to play that game on the highest settings im not going to spend so much money .

i think a Video Card and a new CPU for 200 Euros should do it to ...

But maybe here is someone, who has also an dual core CPU , and can post his experience with 2k13 ?

i made the decision that i will also buy a new CPU .

I choosed this one here , your thoughts ?

AMD Phenom II X4 965 (Quad Core, 4 x 3400 MHz). Only found german links for more infos , i dont think you would understand them ^^

Yep that CPU is only 12% weaker than my 6 core and should give you very good performance with 2K13.

Look at people playing Borderlands 2 on max quality with the graphics card 7770 and CPU phenom x4 965 respectively

Alright good luck man. Make sure your power supply can accommodate both the new CPU and graphics card though.

Yes, they're up to date. I have an i5 3550. I can run much more graphically demanding games with zero problems.
