Playing Online makes me gag

Sun Nov 11, 2012 4:18 am

Literally.... I feel like I need a shower after playing online I feel so dirty, it disgusts me how rotten online mode is and always has been. How do you guys deal with this really ?
1 and 4 so far, and worst part about it is, I'm getting beat by what I swear must be 12 year olds...
When they're not cheesing with superstars, they're doing the most ridiculous things like always trying to get steals after scoring and trying to take charges NON STOP the whole game while you're bringin the ball up the court ! every single guy I've played so far does these things !
like do you really THINK dwight howard is gonna steal the ball from Chris Paul? why are you full court pressing me all game long with Gasol and Howard ??

And trying to play the right way does NOT work because of the lack of response and control of your player due to online lag. THEY KNOW THIS, it's why they continuously cheese with these pathetic inbound steal attempts and charge taking, the fact they're doing it doesn't bother me because I beat it fairly easily BUT it's almost impossible to take advantage of it because of the unresponsiveness and lack of control of your player, they RELY ON SUCKING YOU IN WITH ANIMATIONS AND SLOWING YOU DOWN. I can't stress that enough, that literally 9 outta 10 guys I played going back to even 2K12, they rely on sucking you into animations knowing that online lag will prevent you from breaking them down.

And the cherry on the cake is other than superstar players, nobody else really plays like themselves in the game... so you have to rely extremely heavily on just using your superstars... like for example I use the Clippers, and everyone else except Chris Paul and Blake Griffin is useless... but if you been watching the Clippers this season, meaning unlike in real life, I can't count on DeAndre for rebounds, or Jamal and Butler for extra buckets.

Losing to guys that you know you would kill by 20+ points if they ever played you offline sittin right next to you, losing to them simply because online enables them, doesn't just wound you, it's a whole bucket of salt right over the fresh infected gangrene wound that needs amputation.
I'm sure the 2K devs play online as well, I really would love to sit there for a day and watch them play guys online to see them trying to keep a straight face

well, iirc, LD2K does online games streaming every once in a while, check his twitter for that.

its just the nature of the online beast, but unfortunately whenever I play against the clippers Crawford and Jordan are just as difficult to deal with as Blake and CP3.

If you don't like it, try to find people to play against here. Start an online assiciation with them and either use it as a way to play each other online, or do a full season. other than that, try to tweak the CPU with sliders to something as challenging as a human opponent.

If they could improve the responsiveness off the controls offline, that would translate to a better online experience as well. The fact that the response time is too late to play any defense kills the experience. You have to anticipate everything defensively because trying to react will leave you in the dust. You can take the same advantage, but that doesn't make it fun.

yea I can't get used to online, I just can't wrap my head around how almost everyone plays the game, it's beyond stupid... and the fact that the way the game is designed actually empowers them, i mean that's it right there

It's one of the reasons I'm chiefly an offline gamer. Well, that and the immersive experience provided by modes like Association and MyCAREER, which I find much more appealing. That said, I would definitely agree with the suggestion of finding a league of like-minded gamers, as you'll probably find the experience much more enjoyable.

i only played 3 online games. That was enough for me. all 3 guys i played against cheesed inbounds passes all game. Couldn't figure out the timing of jumpshots either due to the lag. This probably explains why everyone just does layups and dunks all game. Not fun. I'll stick to offline.

the NBA 2k games have always offered the best single player experience IMO. Even though the AI has its flaws, it is faaar better than any other sports game out there. Fifa, Pro Evo, NHL, Madden, etc... all become easy once you figure out how to master the AI. For whatever reason, the 2K games always challenge me, even after 40+ hours if gameplay... which makes online not needed as far as i'm concerned

HAHA, I hate to admit it, but I do all the things you say: trying to draw offensive fouls, stealing with Centers, pressing steal all day. The only thing I DON'T do is use one of the overpowering Fanboy teams like Lakers, Heat, OKC. I prefer using teams like the Spurs, Bucks, guys who don't have an overpowering superstar.

If you were good, you'd be able to beat them at their cheese. Guy tries to draw offensive foul? Blow by them and score. Center tries to steal? Ditto. Sucking in animations is much less a factor in 2k13 than 2k12.

I'm not sure how someone you're playing who is sitting next to you is different than online (are you gonna threaten to punch them if they cheese?)

I guess the main difference is you probably know the person and can agree on some house rules as far as fair play and cheese are concerned. That's not likely to happen when you're randomly matched up with an anonymous person online, where the GIFT may well be in effect.
