And indeed they did. Just a minor setback, of course.

Scal retired. AMMO gut cut. This season is over before it even has begun.
Lakers should waive Bryant and get AMMO back.

I'm crying now.

This is probably the end of the road for him.

So, now that we are here. Who has the insight into why he was such a bust?

Jimmer Fredette?

Bust? He has two rings, you idiot. He's better than Lebron and Melo put together.

I thought it was because he just wasn't athletic enough to compete with starting NBA 3's and 2's. Combine that with the fact that Charlotte wasted a lottery pick on him = a bust in the eyes of most people.

I'd agree with that, it seems he just didn't have the athleticism, nor perhaps the skill level to succeed in the pros. He also tore his ACL shortly before what would have been his second season in the league and missed that entire year, setting him back somewhat. The funny thing is, while the pick is certainly another one of MJ's blunders in the front office, compared to taking Kwame Brown first overall in Washington in 2001, it was a much safer pick. Morrison was a highly regarded prospect who performed well in college, essentially the complete opposite of Brown.

Adam Morrison is the small forward version of JJ Reddick and Jimmer Fredette - he could dominate college with his insane knack for putting the ball in the basket, but his physical profile didn't allow it to translate to being as dominant in the NBA game.
I honestly thought Morrison would be a stud in the NBA. 28ppg in college is crazy, and at 6'8" there didn't seem to be any red flags about his physical tools. But now that i look back on highlights of Morrison in the NBA, he DID seem pretty unathletic, inflexible, and awkward. I definitely feel for the guy right now, he's officially a bust if he retires. Don't know why some team can't use him as a spot up shooter off the bench though?

Well, he has shot under 40% (raw) for his career and his advanced stats in that area aren't eye-popping either, so he's probably not considered a prime candidate when teams are looking for reliable, deadeye shooters to round out their benches.

As
Andrew said he isn't a very reliable shooter. He also sucks at the defensive end, which is a killer combined with his overall skill set. It would have been great to see AMMO get another chance in the NBA but I think that won't happen.

I realize his NBA shooting stats are horrible, but there's no doubt he can shoot. I think it's more of a mental thing with him, rather than an actual lack of shooting ability thing. The dude killed it from 3 in college when his confidence was high.

He shot well in international play as well.

Not having the physical tools to overcome NBA defenses might have something to do with it too.

Well, that definitely is a factor if he wants to slash to the basket. But to be a spot up shooter being a 6'8" white stiff is no problem. Just ask Steve Novak or Jason Kapono.

I think he's a bit of a rhythm shooter though rather than a pure shooter. He needs shots & the confidence with knowing that if he misses, he gets more. Really he needs to play more loose ala Jason Terry & play the Microwave role & he could find a niche.

Charlotte did a terrible job in developing him and on his recovery from that injury.
That is why I think the Bobcats deserve to be a losing team for a very long time for ruining AmMo's career.
