The game was tight the whole night until when the Celtics pulled off a 12-0 run midway through the third and ended the quarter 49-48, Sixers. Heading in to the fourth, the Celtics lead by at least 6 points in the final 2 minutes of the game, but the Sixers never did give up, Richardson hit two consecutive three-pointers to tie the game with less than a minute left. The ball is back at the hands of the C's, Pierce tried to do a stepback jumper but it went in and out, the miss was held by Bynum. 61 all with half a minute left, Bynum was posting up and Holiday dished the rock to him... the crowd was chanting defense the whole possession, Bynum was pushing Garnett to the rim, he faked to the left and hooked to the right and it went in, 63-61 Philadelphia. The crowd was silent and anxious as there was only 18.4 seconds left on the clock, and the home team was trailing by two. The Celtics will inbound the ball at the sidelines after the timeout, and they hit it to Pierce who consumed half the time left before making a move, he tried to post up and then drove to the hoop and put up a stepback J that bounced on the front iron as the buzzer sounded. The Sixers bench celebrated as they defeated their division rivals by two, while the Celtics bench and their home crowd was in defeat, heads down and anxiously walked away from the arena.
"I didn't know what happened, we were leading by at least five or six in the last two minutes and we still lost. It was all so fast, I can't believe it." Pierce said during the post game conference. "It was a nice game and all, but we lost and that's the bitter part of it. I'm definitely sure there's gonna be a lot of criticisms about us again this game, like: '
They're too old, they lost because they had no Ray Allen.' I don't like that, and to all of them, we're gonna prove them wrong." Garnett said.
"After the game, I already told myself I love Philadelphia, 'cause I already feel like we've played together before, it's like we had chemistry already." Richardson said.
The Celtics next game will again be at home against the Blazers.
