With the news that Gilbert Arenas signed with a chinese team, it got me thinking.
Interesting how all these players who NEED high usage to be effective have all now wound up overseas (Arenas, Tmac, Marbury, Iverson). The lesson? Find a way to be effective when combined with other players or dramatically fall from grace in your 30's and ride ya bike overseas.
Which present-day high usage players do you think are the biggest contenders to fall out of the league in their 30's?? The trend seems to be: high usage player, poor defense, lose athleticism or major injury..

Wow! So if Carmelo will have a major injury we can see him going to China? I think so.

I think Monta Ellis has a good chance.

Those two are the first two guys who came to my mind.
Another guy to add to Barn-Z's list, though he bombed out like Iverson in Turkey, is Steve Francis.

Melo was the first guy that came to my mind too. But i think Brandon Jennings is more of a candidate than Ellis.
Other candidates: OJ Mayo and Michael Beasley? And maybe even Tyreke Evans if he can't figure out how to play off the ball.

If Phoenix gives Beasley the three point shot everyone claimed he had, he'll be around forever.

When I saw Steve Francis on your post I remembered that he is doing this now:

Michael Beasley was the first person in my mind too, or some other highly-drafted-yet-so-far-disappointing player. Maybe even an above average PG that lacks minutes. (Devin Harris, Mo Williams?)

Amare Stoudemire heading to China you saying?!

Looks like it
may not happen for Arenas after all.
Arenas and Guangdong reached a verbal agreement, but have now hit an impasse over completing a signed contract. The snags may ultimately keep Arenas from joining Guangdong for the upcoming CBA season, sources said.
Guangdong and Arenas have had disagreements over a payment schedule, and the organization has started to have increasing questions over Arenas' fitness to make an impact in the league.
