Sideline Celebrities

Sat Sep 29, 2012 8:34 am

I didn't see this in any other thread, and it's on OS. There will be celebrities sitting on the sidelines of the games. All we know so far is Bow Wow at Heat games (from the demo: red shirt [between the scorer's table and Thunder bench]), and Jay-Z at Nets games:

There is a rumor of Jack Nicholson at Lakers games but no one knows about that one yet. I couldn't clearly see him in the Heat @ Lakers gameplay, and this is extremely doubtful.

It's a nice touch, but people who aren't told about them being there probably won't notice.

I have a problem with this actually. It just seems like time and effort wasted. Ronnie 2k tweeted that he was talking to folks at Warner Brothers about future celebs in the game. Instead of doing this nonsense, basically "going hollywood". 2K could put the time and resources that they are using for this celeb garbage and polish up the games bugs and texture inaccuracies. Like that gap between the Nets court side seats and the court floor. Getting the net physics straight. Fixing the running styles so the small forwards like Carmelo don't have the same running style as Kendrick Perkins. Giving us full black top mode with maybe half a dozen courts and trick moves. And other tiny bugs/features like that.

It probably took one person less than two hours in get J in the game. Who cares. The actual in game model of him is pretty poor anyways, just slightly resembles Jay Z because of the clothes he's wearing.

Now in game celebrities on the other hand, well I find that a complete waste. But who knows maybe there is a lot of people who find that shit fun.

chicagoRaw, I hope you realize that this small detail doesn't take away from them not fixing those bugs right? I mean honestly, they leave them there on purpose so the following year they can say "hey look we fixed this" even though they could've done it 2 development cycles ago. Almost like when they take something out only to put it back in a year or 2 later and say it's "new." For as long as I've played 2k they have really never been like Live when it came to the graphic details(shoes, colors, arenas, accessories, different players jerseys hanging different, etc.) so it doesn't bother me as much because Live used to mask terrible gameplay w/ meaningless things like that.

Nifty easter eggs, I guess. It's not like they would've taken any time away from developing more important features, so nice touch.

Bieber is in the Lakers sidelines instead of Nicholson.
