Talk about NBA 2K13 here.

Playcalling is obviously set to Auto, because you can see the play initiation markers on the floor.
Tue Sep 11, 2012 10:14 am
Yeah, but why would they do that?
Tue Sep 11, 2012 10:23 am
Whoever was playing the game wasn't trying to showcase plays and playcalling, nor had a good feel for the controls. As we say in this week's podcast where we discuss the video, they seem to use the same moves, not use plays, etc. Must just be an IGN employee trying out the game to get a video out, without putting too much thought into what they're doing and if they're showcasing the right stuff.
We haven't had plays in gameplay videos pre-release for the past iterations, nor have we had any kind of playcalling (it was completely disabled, not even on auto) in the demo.
Da Czar presented the (then) new branched plays system in NBA 2K12 pre-release with 10 Teams in 10 Days, but he didn't get permission to do those again this year.
Don't expect to see much playcalling before the game's released and first user videos hit YouTube, unless 2K decides to do a Plays dev video, which I pretty much doubt.
Last year the improvement on plays was significant enough to get Czar to do 10 videos showcasing the playcalling system. Doesn't seem to be a big discussion point this year, so they don't feel the need to emphasize that in the preview videos.

That stuff can and will still happen on a lower difficulty setting. However, whatever the slider settings and difficulty setting may be, the person playing certainly isn't bothering to run plays and isn't necessarily a hardcore/skilled player, which all factors in to the quality of the demonstration. Like I said, it's nice to see videos of gameplay but they ultimately can't match the hands-on experience as far as giving each of us an impression of how the game is going to feel in our hands, the way we all individually play it.

I like that, but some things seem to be unchangeable. Look the pass from Artest to Howard at 3:31, and the pass from Howard to Gasol. Nobody guarded by Lebron James can get the ball that low without having the ball stripped. This is pretty unrealistic. Other thing is the rim sound. It's pretty awful. There isn't any arena in the whole world that have a rim which make this kind of sounds. Terrible. But the defense animations seems to be very good.

And we'd be naive to expect one. I certainly wouldn't mind being proven wrong, though.

I wouldnt call missing out on "shadows" as half the graphics, and we get all the features (except online forces PS2 graphics)

arena custom music, online with a specific person?
Fri Sep 14, 2012 11:39 pm
Still, that's half the game's features and graphics?
Don't be ridiculous. We're getting half price, and it has its ups and downs. The downs are the lack of some shaders on the players, custom arena music, DLC and the terrible online, and the ups are the half price (duh) and all the modding we get to do that isn't possible on consoles. But I wouldn't call what we're missing out on "half the graphics and features". Not even close.
We already have enough topics going over this debate. Can we keep it on-topic?

Im not agree with that. We all know that we can pay full price, we love this game(basketball) but its only lazy of 2k team makes pc version so poor in some aspects opposite to console version. And yes i ended off-topic.
JaoSming wrote: (except online forces PS2 graphics)
Never seen this kind of ridiculous, never. More powerfull pc's over ps3 are forces ps2 graphics, and why? because of online mode.

It is unfortunate how the PC version gets the short end of the stick in those areas but as Leftos said, it's a stretch to say we miss out on half the features and graphics. The core experience of gameplay is identical, along with the content of Association and My Player/MyCAREER...the All-Star Weekend pre-order content this year excepted.
Mon Sep 17, 2012 7:38 pm
I expected something fresh from 2K....sigh.
My Idea:
Draw your own plays. Or you can copy plays done by your team in real life. Or make the same plays for other teams like in real life.
No more My Player...No more Association.. thats boring... If only they can make the accessories and shoes right, I'd be happy.
Mon Sep 17, 2012 7:55 pm
No more MyPlayer or Association? What are you talking about?
Draw your own plays is an excellent idea. Even just inbound plays would be a great start.

A lot of people had that idea even in the past decade but it seems like the Live and 2K devs aren't capable of implementing it.
Just look at how long it took for saving a game in progress to be back in a basketball videogame.
Mon Sep 17, 2012 8:26 pm
And we all know how well that worked in 2K12.

Yes, I have had this idea as well. Expanding on the timeouts and allowing custom inbound plays. I don't think it would be as hard as they may think it should be which is why it hasn't been implemented. It doesn't even have to be completely customizable as far as drawing up custom routes, but if they had different sets of angled cuts and you could position the screen(s), that would be a good start.

Ok guys one thing is clear. If NLSC stops, many of NBA 2k13 copies stays at shops. We create this game every year.

Yeah, those five million copies sold on consoles were all because of the PC patching community.
