Talk about NBA 2K13 here.

I found a video just released today.
It was posted by Jay-Z's facebook page.

looks legit from Jay Z's camps, as well as looking at the lighting on the players, so we know its not a 2K12 PC video. We'll see how this correlates to the latest MJ involvement teaser as well -
http://www.nba-live.com/nba-2k13s-execu ... -is-jay-z/I'm guessing its going to result in a more stylized menus, better soundtrack, something to do with MJ talking to the player in MP, and overrated Brooklyn Nets ratings.

lol agreed.
Also, 2K posted a picture of MJ over there with a mic saying that he would help announcing it.
It sounds like he's narrating the trailer.
I believe the voice in the trailer somewhat resembles MJ's

Yeah, that was MJ.
I'm guessing that his voiceover work will carry into the game somehow, either as a narrator or a similar type of presence. As for Jay-Z's involvement as an executive producer, I'm going to assume it's referring to the soundtrack and/or perhaps some "cultural" elements of the game.

Please 2K make this graphics, lightning, self-shadowing for PC ver. too!!!!

I noticed that those Air Jordan 8's are actually the RIGHT colorway.. I hope they'll have the official colorways for all the shoes in stead of mix-match color template..

Why would you assume this? The guys been a part owner of a NBA team for years, he's probably re-writing the AI from scratch as we speak.
And deleting Association because it's "boring as fuck and for nerds" to make room for more artists, tracks and videos he wants to promote.

Anyway, seems 2K have just officially announced it.

A bit more info on his role as an executive producer.
He’s moving on to a new industry to conquer, as 2K Sports has just named the 42-year-old entertainment mogul the executive producer of “NBA 2K13.” Carter has not only personally selected the game’s 24-song soundtrack, but he’s also been working with 2K designers on the overall look and feel of the game’s presentation.
“At 2K Sports, we want to transcend just being a video game and be a solid entertainment product with basketball at its core,” said Jason Argent, vice president of marketing for 2K Sports, when I asked him about Jay-Z’s involvement in the game. “This game has gotten so amazingly good from a gameplay standpoint, that we got together and asked what we could do to add to that, to support, and package around an already amazing game. We wanted to talk to people who were authentic to the sport of basketball, but also authentic to the world of entertainment and music and culture. Every time we sat down to make our lists, one guy kept rising to the top, and that’s Jay-Z.”
So basically, he's responsible for the soundtrack, the front end presentation and the cultural aspects of the game.

Congrats to them but Presentation was never their weak point. Hopefully they have their priorities straight..

I'd assume so. The usual suspects have still been putting in hard work in areas like gameplay, game modes and the like. That's not to say everything will be perfect, that would be an unrealistic expectation after all, but I doubt Jay Z's work has been a distraction from all that.

Nice to see player faces look like crap still. Can't wait to load it up and have the bulls colors be pink once again, among the usual fails.

I love (the early) Jay-Z but.... put his name on front cover is too much, isn't it?

2K wants to sell a lot of copies obviously. They are blowing Jay Z's dick with a lot of saliva because they know he is their ticket to a greater recognition. They want everyone to know Jay Z is involved with their game.

So there is something wrong with advertising that? He's got a huge following, you'd probably be calling them stupid if they didn't have his name on the cover.
Fri Aug 10, 2012 11:38 am
Agreed. It's not like it's particularly intrusive, his face isn't plastered all over the cover or anything.
