Re: 2012-2013 Offseason

We will have to wait and see if Dwight has a special television program for that one. It's also important to keep in mind that Lebron was the guy that many teams were trying to free up cap space to try and sign him. Lebron kept his options open, while Dwight has preferred teams the he is willing to play for.

I tend not to see that as attention whoring, but indecisiveness untill the last minute where he wants to go. He kept options open and didn't make any promises, because I don't think he himself knew for 100% where he wanted to be. Even for Miami, we felt it was a long shot and unlikely event. But somehow Bosh's joining, and Riley's presentation convinced him. And he proabably thought he was making a good decision under that very circumstances because no other teams could have offered what the Heat offered, 2 in-prime supertars who are friends from Olympics, and legitimate shot at the ring. If he persisted to join the Heat from the beginning sorta like Dwight, I have a feeling that we'd have liked him even less and probably regarded that as attention whoring as well. But the decision to air where he wants to go on ESPN was definitely whoring. Regardless of what media/fans wanted, it wasn't necessary. Probably same goes for pre-ceremony.

It was going to happen no matter what. His decision would be covered 24/7, the team would have held a massive PR ceremony. They do that for lesser players, let alone franchise ones. If LeBron issued a short message he would have been arrogant and copying Jordan, if he wouldn't discuss his "decision" the media would have thrown a shit fit, if he avoided ESPN or a press conference they would have called him a coward, etc. All LeBron's camp did was try to control the announcement and profit of it. They failed at it, but it was the smart move.

:o Looks like benji's sober again.

Pretty cool reasoning. I wasn't too sure what Lebron could have done to please people/media either. And had he remained a Cavalier, would fans have been happy for him?

benji proves once again why he has the highest paid troll toll.

aquiring an FA and a player via S&T do have a huge difference, AND how the management works tho..those are some factors to reconsider 'bout comparing them..but i have to say both of them(i can also add the media, just abusing every info "right or wrong" they have just to have something to report)..for lebron, almost all of the teams prepared on that luxury FA class(bosh, lebron, etc), lebron did visit many teams before his decision. for dwight, it has been always brooklyn, even ask brian scalabrine(NBPA member), almost everyone expected him to be traded to brooklyn since last season. dwight's problem was the orl management(or devos specifically), SVG,otis want him to ship out to nets, even his teamates, the fans. its just the management, w/c might have the trauma shaq gave them after they lost him. you can say dwight might be troll for waiving he's ETO, but you can also blame the magic FO for trolling lakers, houston, nets, cavs, bobcats, warriors, dallas etc..

It's amazing having you as an insider. It makes me happy to know guys like you frequent the board, much like KevC being close friends with a friend of Jeremy Lin.

Wolves deal Ellington for Cunningham to get another forward...
They also try to land Kirilenko.

How much do you guys think AK47 has left in the tank? There was an entire thread of guys on RealGM saying he'll be the 3rd to 5th best SF in the west if he signs with Minny. I say he'll be a low-to-mid-level starting SF.

I really can't tell you. From what I've seen at Eurobasket he's still good , but from what I've seen at Eurobasket I also would have told you, that Spain vs. Team USA would end up much closer. So it's hard to tell how good he still is.

He was still putting up respectable stats for the Jazz a season ago. I think he'll prove to be a good pickup.

My guy Budinger likely to start off the bench now. AK47 is the Euro MVP right? I consider any of those two better than Beasley. Nice pick ups.

AK47 fits well with T-wolves. Maybe a tad overpaid, but ahh well. T'wolves need defense & he helps. Can't wait for Rubio to return.

The Timberwolves are getting whiter and whiter.

Besides the Lakers getting Howard, Philly getting Bynum, Denver getting Iggy & Orlando just getting buttfucked, Lakers seem to have reached an agreement with Jodie Meeks.

Mike Bresnahan: Lakers agree to terms w/ reserve SG Jodie Meeks on a 2-year deal for about $3 mill. 2nd yr is team option. Meeks is 37% career 3-pt shooter.

Sam Amico: Jodie Meeks-to-Lakers is official, according to LA Times. Two years for about $3 million. Bargain.

Little bit of a clean-up signing, Blatche signed with the Nets:

Re: 2012-2013 Offseason

Could be a nice signing if Blatche can even slightly get his head screwed on straight.

Re: 2012-2013 Offseason

Sat Sep 08, 2012 12:56 am

Blatche is a pretty awful NBA player, but he does have talent. If I were New Jersey, I'd be leery about backing up a "finesse" center with another one, but then I guess beggars can't be choosers.

Can't wait for this off-season to be over so I can make pre-season predictions. :P

whoa, being the 3rd team highest payroll in the NBA, and having the richest owner in sports world? you're just kidding right?

Yeah, i do agree blatche is awful. But with a minimum 1 year non-guaranteed contract, i guess it's a good signing since the team needs a backup C, not mentioning he can also play PF and has a great talent. I've heard the heat were interested in him too, does that make them beggars also? considering other FA C/PF's out there, I think he's the best option to have..

I think you're right on that one. If he fits and plays well, fine. If he doesn't, get rid of him next offseason.

They don't even have to wait that long...

Re: 2012-2013 Offseason

Sat Sep 08, 2012 8:06 pm

For a 2nd/3rd backup C/PF it's not that bad at all, and that min 1 year non-guaranteed contract just adds the icing on the cake. We know he had some issues, the BB IQ, passion, chemistry etc. but those problems were the same issues w/ gerald green, eventually he had his break-out season last year. it's a low risk-high reward gamble.

and please update yourself

If they were the choosers, they wouldn't have begged so hard for D-Will to stay in the team. And it's sorta funny what they achieved with that 3rd highest payroll. LoL
