Story @ ESPN.comKyrie Irving, the NBA's reigning rookie of the year, broke his right hand during the Cavaliers' practice on Saturday in in Las Vegas.
Irving will return to Cleveland to be examined by team doctors Sunday and said he likely will undergo surgery. The Cavs said in a release Saturday night that they expect Irving, their leading scorer last season who recently dazzled during scrimmages against the U.S. Olympic team, to be ready for the start of training camp in late September. However, the team said it will not have a timeline for Irving's return until after he is examined.
Unlucky and naturally a bit of a setback, but it hopefully isn't too bad if he's expected back by training camp.

Oh well... as long as he's back by training camp. It's disappointing though because he was having a great summer and really starting to make a name for himself. (Challenging Kobe to 1 on 1 and really impressing on the select team) I was looking forward to seeing him play with the the new guys on the summer league team but I guess I'll have to wait until the preseason.

That sucks, man.

That's too bad. Irving is looking like he'll be a legit star, but Cavs fans have got to be concerned with his durability.

Not really, its just a broken hand and his toe injury from Duke doesn't seem to be a problem. I think his shoulder injury last season was a little exaggerated. He was most likely just resting since we weren't playing for anything anyway. Then his concussion of course has nothing to do with his durability.

Missing 15 games isn't too bad when you consider it came in a lockout shortened season with a compressed schedule. In the course of a normal season, he probably would've still played at least 70 games, which isn't too much of a worry.
