The Toronto Raptors have acquired guard Kyle Lowry from the Houston Rockets in exchange for forward Gary Forbes and a protected future first-round draft pick, sources tell ESPN.
The Raptors have been talking with the Rockets about prospective Lowry deals for weeks, sources said, and seriously discussed the prospect of swapping the versatile guard for Toronto's No. 8 pick in last month's draft.

This is great for the Raptors. Instantly becomes the best player on the Raptors.

Fuck. I see our offseason going the same way as Dallas'.

raptors are improving their roster now, add fields+lowry and also forgot the euro player they've acquired (other scouts said that if he was drafted in this years draft he might end w/in top 5 overall), again health issues about bargnani is important..

Great move for the Raptors. Lowry's a big upgrade for them, he was having a fine season last year before he fell out with Kevin McHale. For Forbes and a first round pick, he's a steal.
As for the Rockets, not so good but he probably wasn't going to get much of a run anyway given the issues with McHale. Depending on the protection on the pick and whether the Raptors can actually show any improvement, it might pay off in the future.

It worked out well for the Raptors to miss out on Nash. They got a nice possible building piece to become a decent team in Lowry. He came cheaper and younger. My only complaint for the Raptors is Landry Field. I somehow think they're going to regret over this signing.

Fields is a pretty decent player, though his production has suffered since the Knicks brought in Melo. That contract isn't too bad, still fairly low risk.

Also he has the potential to average more boards than Bargnani

I won't rule out this offseason going like Dallas' way. We didn't give up that much of quality players and got nothing in return.

A bit of a head scratcher for the Rockets.

I think it comes down to the fallout between Lowry and McHale. It's a move that could perhaps pay off down the road but in the short term ships out someone who was likely going to go to waste on the bench due to issues with his coach.

Yeah i heard about the McHale bizzo... but surely they could've got something more for Lowry...

Come on. The Bobcats could easily have put together a better offer.

Who hasn't ?!?
But what do you expect from a guy named Andrea?

Lowry's an excellent fringe all-star PG and I have no idea what Morey was thinking getting rid of both his starting caliber point guards. Toronto does very well in this deal and if a couple of their prospects pan out, they might surprise us a bit.

Agreed. Though the pick can be useful, i think it'll not be easy finding Lowry or even Dragic caliber players. Surprised how much better this turned out to be after missing out on Nash.
