2011/2012 rosters

I just bought a copy of this game. Wondering where can i download latest rosters.

I think you may be out of luck. There aren't too many people playing 2K games older than 2K11 around these parts.

You could create an update yourself, yes. I don't patch any 2K games myself so I can't give you too many pointers, but there are some resources in the Tutorials section.

I play NBA 2k9 too. I created some "rookies" like Rubio, Harden, Griffin, Ibaka... but hardly ever they was real. I heard some of living rosters, but I don't know anything..
