Axel. wrote:Crazy game against Portland. I remember having games in which all 12 of my players scored, but I would usually only have three or four players in double figures. Nice to see the Rockets can still put up a fight despite being woeful in the West.

It really felt like an All-Star game. Normally I'd get my passes picked off, if I played the way I did against Portland, but everything was just working in that game... I guess that's why my assist numbers were huge too. The Rockets have something in their AI that makes them pick up their game against me, I swear

Mavs4Life wrote:From now on buzzer beaters are "goin huntin'" :rimshot: ... if it was real would've been one of the best trip-dubs EVA #Perko4Life

He's good at shooting buzzer beaters... but any other time, that'd probably be a brick :P

That Perko triple-double would be right up their with his double-triple-double.

Andrew wrote:The Portland game was just insane. Great clutch win against the Rockets too, good ball movement to run down the clock and get that final shot. (Y)

It's one of those games I wish I had recorded. I was making stupid passes and as I said before, any other time I've played like that, I've picked up many turnovers. I would have expected that game against the Rockets or Grizzlies, but against a playoff contending team? It was absolutely crazy.

Normally I'm against passing the ball a lot in the clutch, but it seemed to work well there.

qfrmcpt310 wrote:Wow what a game, wish mines would be as exciting lol

Games like those make me continue to play this dynasty :)

Yeah, Perko is still a beast. His contract is up this off-season too. He's definitely the priority for the off-season.

5 Game Summary

This summary is the start of an extensive road trip for the Denver Nuggets. It started well, with a win in Arizona. However, the Nuggets encountered some problems in Los Angeles, losing to both the Clippers and the Lakers at Staples. They had more luck in the Californian capital against the Kings, while the feature game against the league cellar dwellers ended up being a laugher:

Top Pick Frustrates Bucks In Blowout

Image

The Denver Nuggets recorded a 97-71 victory over the luckless Milwaukee Bucks, led by Stan Griffiths, who had 20 points and 13 rebounds. Vince MacMahon provided energy off the bench with 19 points, while Borislav Perko (16) and Taylor MacKenzie (15) both had minor contributions. Axel Donnelly continued his rise up the rotation, with 10 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists off the bench.

Once again, Derrick Rose was the best on a bad team, with 22 points and 6 assists. Miguel Carlos had a solid game with 16. Darren Koch (11) and Bradley Kortig (10 points, 9 rebounds) both contributed, but never looked threatening.

This blowout is likely to continue the animosity between the two team owners, as the Bucks felt cheated out of the number 1 pick by the Nuggets alleged tanking.

Two Horse Race
Image
Right now, the MVP race looks to be between Hobbes MacDonald and Stan Griffiths. Stan helped his cause with 28 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists versus the Clippers... unfortunately, the Nuggets couldn't pick up the win.

The Dark Horse?
Image
Borislav Perko has been putting up some big numbers lately. Against the Suns, he had 16 points, 11 rebounds, 12 assists, 3 blocks and 4 steals. Five-by-five remains illusive.

An Unlikely Trivia Answer
Image
Prepare to see Blake Griffin's minutes go south; Axel Donnelly is now proving he's a force as well. When you get asked, who has registered a triple-double in this dynasty, you can now answer correctly with Axel Donnelly. 20 points, 14 rebounds and 10 assists against the Kings... not too bad for a guy who's been out of rotation for most of the season.

Still a Close Second

Image
Taylor MacKenzie hasn't gotten the same amount of headlines as Stan, but he's still second in the team in points per game. Against the Lakers, he helped bolster that average by scoring 25.

February 2024 Review

In the month of March, the Denver Nuggets made their move to the top of the Western Conference. While Stan Griffiths' was the major reason for this, Borislav Perko got back into his MVP form as well. He followed up his All-Star MVP game with one of the all-time great performances against the Blazers. Along with Stan's 20-10 numbers, an in form Perko can make the Nuggets just about unstoppable.

The Nuggets once again have the dilemma of distributing minutes. Vince MacMahon is currently their 6th man, which means less minutes for talented swingman Simon Sampson and explosive point guard Bartholomew Myer. Axel Donnelly's form has also thrown a monkey wrench into the Nuggets rotation, with guys like Blake Griffin and Timothy Ullrich currently missing out.

In the end, it doesn't really matter who's playing, as long as the Nuggets are getting wins. Everybody seems to know what to do when they get out there, and you can't ask for much more than that.

I'm hoping Griffiths can achieve the rare feat of winning MVP and ROY. That'd be something special, with his rise to fame as the season has progressed.

Axel is awesome, he kind of reminds me of the 90s power forwards like Larry Johnson and Charles Barkley. He's a little undersized, but he's got a solid build and has made skills.

And I have to wonder what look T-Mac will rock next season. He went from Big Ben to Bald

I hope so too... he's fading away a little bit, in the light of Perko's rise, but I'd say he's still in with a chance. He's an absolute lock for the ROY, if nothing else.

5 Game Summary

Once again, this 5 game summary had mixed results for Denver. With the win-loss-win-loss-win trend, they were unable to build up any momentum. Even though they were devastating against Dwight Howard and the Pacers, Dwight's former team took the Nuggets out in OT. Denver then picked up another win against the Rockets, before going down to the defending champions, the New Orleans Hornets. Which leads us to the feature game against the Grizzlies. It wasn't a pretty game... if you are from Memphis:

Taylor Torches Memphis

Image

The Nuggets took a commanding 111-75 win in Memphis, thanks to a season high 41 points from Taylor MacKenzie. Along with scoring, he had a nice all-round night, registering stats in all categories. He had excellent support, as Stan Griffiths (22) and Vince MacMahon (21) both having big nights as well.

Memphis had very little resistance, as Darrell Flanagan (24 points, 7 rebounds) and Dave Russell (16 points, 7 assists) were the only two who had decent nights. Scoring-wise, the next best was the other Borislav Perko, with 7 points.

This was Denver's 42nd win of the season, which guarantees they'll finish over .500.

Old Friends, New Enemies

Borislav Perko had a hell of a night against Dwight Howard. He was only 2 steals away from a 5x5, and just 2 rebounds and 1 assist away from his second double-triple-double. He had 22 points, 18 rebounds, 19 assists, 5 blocks and 3 steals. MVPerko is now activated!

Asking Questions
Image
Vince MacMahon is pushing for a starting spot. He had another impressive effort against Orlando, with 29 points. With Taylor MacKenzie able to play small forward, Dennis Anderson could find himself on the bench soon.

More Bench Brilliance
Image
Simon Sampson was also impressive off the bench in this summary. He had 24 points against Houston.

In The Hunt
Image
Steven Hunt was menacing in Denver's loss to New Orleans. He had 13 points (a team high), 5 assists and 6 steals. The Nuggets couldn't get it all together against their bogey team though.

So close to the 5x5! He and Griffiths should hopefully both make the All-NBA First Team, with one of them taking home the MVP. I'm still hoping for Griffiths because of the possibility of winning ROY and MVP, but it'd be a great return to form for Perko.

They both have a strong case at the moment. I'd say Hobbes MacDonald probably gets it at the moment. He has great overall stats and I believe is the league's leader scorer. Probably the closest thing to LeBron the engine has generated. Griffiths winning both trophies would be really cool.

I'd be happy if either player won it. Stan because he'd be a rarity and Perko for sentimental reasons :)

5 Game Summary

The Nuggets had 5 from 5, in a summary that has a strong emphasis on gaudy numbers. While the Jazz got within 6, the closest all the other teams got was 18. Denver handed out some royal beat downs... speaking of which, the feature game is against the Sacramento Kings:

Royal Blowout: Stan Usurps Kings

Image

The Denver Nuggets continued their dominance in the West with a 96-79 win over the Kings. Once again, Stan Griffiths was the key player, with 26 points and 11 rebounds. Borislav Perko continued his fine form, with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 8 assists. The two Macs, Taylor and Vince, scored 14 each.

Kelly Scott was the most impressive for the Kings. The former all-star had 28 points and 10 assists. Demitri Richter provided solid support with 20, but Willard Koch was the only other player to reach double-figures, with 11 points.

Denver showed little regard for Sacramento's position in the Western Conference, and with this win, they're now on a 6 game winning streak.

2 More Blocks!

Borislav Perko was painfully closer to a quadruple-double. 15 points, 15 rebounds, 16 assists and 8 blocks against Memphis. This was the first of two triple-doubles for Perko this round, as he had 12 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists against the Thunder.

Steven Hunt went pretty close to a quadruple-double himself. The pass-first point guard had an incredible game with 18 points, 7 rebounds, 25 assists and 8 steals against the Clippers.

Looks like you're on a little roll now, with contributions coming from different players every game.

Stan for MVP would be really good, a true franchise-changer, not just record-wise, but also helping T-Mac and Perko regain their form after a woeful year.

I guess I'm trying to keep in line with the Nuggets team philosiphy... although this is a very much amplified version of it

I think Stan is the real MVP. The whole thing kinda reminds me of the Tim Duncan situation... which is awesome, since Timmy is one of my all time favourite players :D

It's kind of funny because Stan's emergence came around about the time of Linsanity. I think I read that Lin's undergoing possibly season-ending surgery, which is really sad.

5 Game Summary

Denver asserted their dominance through this summary, extending their winning streak to 11 games, including a 21 game run in the Mile High City. In fact, they've only lost 3 at home this season. This summary, the Pepsi Center saw Sacramento, Charlotte, Miami, Milwaukee and Washington all fall to the Nuggets.

The feature is against the Wizards:

T-Mac Wizardry Beats Washington

Image

The Nuggets came away with an 83-70 win over the Wizards, thanks to an almost quadruple-double display from Taylor MacKenzie. Previously seen as a one-dimensional player, Taylor is continuing to prove his critics wrong, and against Washington, he had 36 points, 6 rebounds, 10 assists and 8 steals. Not even a former Defensive Player of the Year (Ollie Rose) was able to stop him. Stan Griffiths (16 points) and Borislav Perko (12 points, 9 rebounds) both had minor, yet meaningful contributions as well.

The Wizards were led by Ollie Rose, who scored 26. Alejandro Carlos was the next best, but he only had 11, while Ian Nolan and Dirk Herrmann (10 rebounds) both scored 10 points each.

Denver is currently on a tear, as this game extended their winning streak to 11.

It finally happened... 5x5 has now been accomplished! Who better to bring it up than Borislav Perko? Here's the line:

20 points 13 rebounds 19 assists 5 blocks 5 steals

The picture is the block that gave him the milestone.

He's On Fire!
Image
It's almost an injustice that Taylor MacKenzie is somewhat overshadowed here. Against Charlotte he scored 44 points. The last two games of the summary, he scored 32 (Milwaukee) and 36, as well as flirting with a quadruple-double.

Offensive Smackdown
Image
Vince MacMahon is doing a great job off the bench for the Nuggets. Against Milwaukee, he scored 28, to add to the 20 points he scored against Sacramento.

Steven Hunt put up 21 points and 12 assists against the Kings.

So the five-by-five is now done, and the quadruple-double was close to falling as well. The next 5 game summary will be an interesting one. The major bogey team will be played against (New Orleans), as well as San Antonio and the West's second seed, the Golden State Warriors.

March 2024 Summary

With a month left in the regular season, the Nuggets playoffs spot is officially booked. March was a month of incredible numbers by various players. Borislav Perko got his first career 5x5 and is well and truly back in the MVP race. He and Stan Griffiths won both the West monthly awards... it's crazy to think this combination is now casting a big shadow over the one Perko had with Dwight Howard.

It was a big month all round. Taylor MacKenzie is regaining his all-star form and the Nuggets have found a new 6-man-specialist in Vince MacMahon. And setting it all up is Steven Hunt, whose assist numbers have been incredible.

The Nuggets are looking like the real deal, but in April, they will face their greatest test: New Orleans. Denver will have to play the Hornets twice, and the result of those encounters will be a true indicator of their championship credentials.

This is the last month; time to kick it up a notch!

Since the Nuggets aren't going up against the Bobcats this month, I thought it'd be a good time to bring back the ugly rainbow. You didn't think I'd forget, did you?

Praise the lord! Finally you got the 5-by-5, that quadruple-double can't be too far away either. (Y)

Excellent job on the 5x5, couldn't come at a better time, and couldn't have been done by a more worthy player. (Y) That last five game summary was a complete laugher, you're completely steamrolling teams out of the Pepsi Center. :D

PS - I also liked how you linked Vince MacMahon and Smackdown together, well done.

Loving the big seasons for Perko and Stan. Hopefully they don't cost each other an MVP for the Nuggs. Either way, it's hopefully looking like a banner year. Let's go Rainbow Nuggs!
