The Start of a new era
In the 2011 NBA Draft the Detroit Pistons selected PG Brandon Knight and Kyle Singer. Starting a new era of rebuilding since the 2004 championship team. The Pistons managed to retain only two players from that championship team. Those players were Small Forward Tayshaun Prince and Center Ben Wallace. This year is the year 2012 prince and wallace were regressing and becoming a shadow of their former selves. Wallace, 37, seems most likely to retire since his career to a wrong turn with injuries packed injuries on. Promising young Center Greg Monroe has learned all he can from Big ben and has developed a very solid game. There is still room for improvement but in the future he will become dominant. Our Two Guard Rodney Stuckey has already became the star of this team.At Power Forward lies Jason Maxiell a undersized 4 but has a deadly jumper he has been solid for the pistons as of late. Detroit will look to build around Stuckey, Knight, and Monroe to become a championship winning team once again

The PrologueOn a lonely summer day, their was a man, By the name of DaVonte Hughes sitting in his chair flipping their the channels at the same time trying to find a new job. DaVonte, a former player in college, Is 21 years old and was just starting life not suited up. He had substained a career ending knee injury that sideline him from ever declaring for the draft. He began watching the 2011 draft to see what players will get picked. Watching the draft roll by, he notices that he doesnt know anyone in the draft, its because he doesnt watch college basketball anymore. He gets ecstatic knowing that his team has a chance to get better. But noticing that atlanta doesnt has a first round pick he shruggs and says "Better luck next draft". He then notices David Stern come up to the podium and say "With the eighth pick in the Nba Draft the Detroit Pistons select Brandon Knight."
DaVonte is intrigued by this selection and notices that his 2nd favorite team is trying to make a change. There was only one problem with Detroit though. They didn't have a General Manager and the Owner was the one making the picks. DaVonte immediately sends an email to the owner of the detroit pistons. Surprisingly, there was a response in less than 15 minutes. The E-Mail read "thank you for applying for the General Manager job of the Detroit Pistons. We will further evaluate you after the draft." DaVonte smiled and prays to once again get a chance to step on the court and make a change.

Chapter 1
DaVonte got dressed in his finest suit and waited for the call and he was going to be on his way. DaVonte lived in Florida so the flight was going to be a long one so hes going to have time to think how to get this job. FEW DAYS LATER. He was welcomed at the front office by some executives, now was his chance. "Well first of my name is Tom Gores nice to meet you" the owner said. "Hello sir im DaVonte Hughes nice to meet you sir" he said as the room went silent. "Now on to the questions Mr.Hughes what do you think you can do to help this team reach success." DaVonte quickly responded "Development and veteran management" Mr. Gores nodded his head in approval as he spoke "What do you plan to do with the organization long term?" DaVonte scratched his head and replied "Turn this team in to a contender and a championship winner". Mr. Gores was pleased "Ok last question, when the season starts what is the first thing your going to do?" DaVonte smiled and said " Meet the team and try to develop a relationship with the guys" The room went silent once more. The owner started to discuss it with his executives and finally a decision was made. " Mr. Hughes you've got the job" DaVonte stood up and shook his hand. Mr Gores replied with " Lets go meet the guys".
Now they were walking down the hallway talking about making trades and then they opened the big doors. Here is the Pistons Stadium! The team was practicing untill the owner told them to come over for a chat. "Hey guys whats up?" DaVonte said. The team shrug and said nothing together. "This is the new General Manager DaVonte Hughes" Someone in the back said something under their breath "are we all going to get traded?" It was then i took action " No, Were going to get better together, im not ruining this chemistry on the first day." The guys smiled and DaVonte felt like he gained their trust. It was then the door opened...it was a Disgruntled Ben Wallace. "So this is the new guy huh? Wassup?" DaVonte lifted up his eyebrow "Nothing much big ben, why are you late?" Ben explained "I wanted to tell the guys something, im retiring at the end of the season." DaVonte Shrugged and then said "You had a great career and it was as a.." Ben intureppted "Not as a piston, i want to retire with a good team. This is my formal trade request." " Well consider it done, Rebuilding starts now. Go home ben" The coach then told the team to go back and run drills so the team can get in shape and the chemistry can form. DaVonte walked to his office and reviewed trades all day and night trying to find someone to take his contract. And their was a trade he liked on his email. He gets up and goes home and writes down his ideas to tell the boss.

Ben Wallace Get his Trade Demand
Ben Wallace made his trade demand as soon as the new GM Mr. Hughes had arrived. It is reported that the gm was going to trade him regardless, he wants to have a young developing team. He declined to comment on the trade. A source close to us told us that he said he had got what he had always wanted.Denver trade: Kenneth Faried and an undisclosed player
Pistons trade: Ben Gordon
Trail Blazers trade: Wesley Matthews and Hasheem Thabeet
Pistons trade: Ben Wallace and Charlie V

To steal a line off shadowgrin: the Kenneth Faried trade brought me here

Anyway, best of luck with this. The current Detroit team intrigues me. They're one of the Eastern Conference teams I like. Hopefully you can make the Manimal a star.

Spot Battles
Today at practice starting spot battles were taking place, Kenneth Faried vs Jason Maxiell
1v1 Kenneth Faried got the early stretch using his body and his height to his advantage. He showed some quick feet that the coach was really impressed with. Jason Maxiell started to bring the lead down but the coach notcied that jason maxiell wasnt working hard as he usually does. He yells "What are you doing out there Jason!" as he was talking a kenneth dunked on jason. Apparently jason thought just because he was a veteran that he was guaranteed the starting position. Jason was playing sluggish on defense and kenneth dominated. After the 1v1 game Coach called him over to have a little chat. "What was that, that was terrible especially against a rookie" he explained. Jason fired back "What you think some rookie just gonna walts in here and take my spot, he hasnt even been here two weeks and you give him a spot battle" he sounded exhausted. "I dont care who he is or how long hes been here, he outplayed you and that means he has earned the spot. We'll see who makes an impact" Coach walked away from jason and gave kenneth the good news.
DaVonte was seen on the other side of the court taking shots and talking to Russel Jr. "I already know how to dribble dammit im not no little kid Mr. Hughes" he said angry. "Whos the rookie me or you, if you think your gonna step out on that court playing like that your gonna be in big trouble. How about we assign you to the d league" he said sympathetically. " But this is my only chance gm" he tried to explain. "Look Russel your still a piston and you still have your roster spot, i just want you to develop. How about a starting pg role in the d league" "Sounds great, imma tear it up and you better call me back up sir. I have no time to rot in the d league i want to make a change on your team" "Show me and ill bite" he said as he patted Russel on the back
Detroit Pistons have assigned Russel Walker Jr to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants

Small Update:
In russell walker jr first game as a fort wayne mad ant he scored five points and 6 assists. In his first interview he said "It was a great experience man, getting to start was way to much fun. These guys down here are all talented. Walker said. But with stats like these his road to the nba will be a long one. He will countinue to develop and we will take closer looks at him. And also the other d league talent, we will be scouting the best talent so we can develop some young guys into great role players.

In recent report SF Damien Wilkins was cut from the team last night before todays game, it was said to be because of his poor play and work ethic. They cut him and added SF Andres Nocioni, who worked out with the team and impressed all the scouts. Todays game will be reported live in this section. Detroit Pistons Vs Indiana Pacers up next!
