He was shooting 17% from 3's this season I believe before that game, and the score was tied...

I wouldn't want anyone apart from a real premiere 3 point shooter taking that shot. Unless it was Reggie Miller or Ray Allen.

Am I the only one who's seeing this guy averaging over six turnovers per game over the last six games? And also, does he even have a left hand?

No hating though, he's really overachieving, but he has to work hard to get better to become a really good player that does not have just a good span of games.

:shake: People keep bringing this stuff into the discussion... The Lin getting attentions are more than just about the race. Mayweather or that journalist who brought controversial race issues obviously is forgetting something.

NYK was 8-15 despite great expectations and the things were looking even worse with the injuries and on going chemistry issues. Then this kid with unguaranteed contract who was about to be let go came in and turned around the culture 180 degree and before you know it the Knicks are back to .500. The franchise was in the midst of process to decide whether to give him the contract or not, as the deadline was nearing. There the coach had to play him to see his worthiness, where he did the damage in the most impressive way. All that time, the kid was living off his brother's couch because of uncertainity with his career as a Knick and also as a NBA player. This story happening in New York the biggest stage in the world also helped him to get more attentions. But one thing's for certain that Lin deserves the credits and attentions he's been getting. Not entirely because of his background but also for his performance. I mean have you guys looked at his stats? It's out of the roof and no doubt he's been the leading force of Knicks' 7 game winning streak along with Chandler. All this on the biggest stage in the world where things were looking bad. Attentions and credits deserved? No fucking doubt. Being yellow just meant bonus for him. No need to take it too seriously.

Knicks Trade Jeremy Lin For Selfish Asshole Who Plays Knicks-Style Basketball

Re: LINsanity

Fri Feb 17, 2012 12:26 pm

Yao Ming discusses Jeremy Lin as eloquently as you’d expect

"What I see from Jeremy and what I hear in his interviews is he appreciates everything. He pursues his dream. His attitude is so peaceful, but there is strength to him. It is not a violent strength like fire or something aggressive. It is like the ocean, very peaceful, very quiet when you look at it. But you can never underestimate the power that is in there."

Top that, ESPN crew.

If the Knicks had a player like that then obviously he'd be the better choice. In the absence of such a player though, they might as well roll the dice.

durvasa wrote:For those who are criticizing Lin on his recent turnover binge:

In 5 of his last 6 games, Lin has amassed 34 turnovers.

In those 5 games, the Knicks as a team have 84 turnovers. The opposing team has 86 turnovers.

Lin has played 192 minutes in those 5 games, so the rest of the Knicks have played 1008 total minutes and had only 50 turnovers in those 5 games. If you average it out, that comes to a turnover every 20.2 minutes for the rest of the players. So, if they all maintained their same turnover rates during this span and played without Jeremy Lin, they'd average only 11.9 turnovers as a team per 48 minutes.

For the NBA as a whole, if you remove PGs from the equation, there were 10005 turnovers committed in 172080 total minutes. That comes to 1 turnover every 17.2 minutes. Or, 14 turnovers as a team per 48 minutes (assuming same turnover rates, no PGs).

The point is just to illustrate that with Lin handling the ball a ton, his turnovers will be higher but also his teammate's turnovers will go down. What matters is overall team turnovers.

This is Lintersesting:

So he's as quick as John Wall, spins as fast as Derrick Rose, and releases his shots as quick as Ray Allen.

All good points. When it comes down to it, point guards do rack up a lot of turnovers because they're handling the ball so much and even the best of the best have pretty high career averages for turnovers and games where they approach or sometimes even top double digits in that column. They're not always the fault of the point guard either; a pretty good pass can still end up in a turnover when a teammate runs in the wrong direction, or is slow to the mark, or takes their eye off the ball, or a defender makes a great play.

I cant believe they made that mistake twice (08 olympics win over china)

Re: LINsanity

Honestly - Lin made some pretty horrible decisions in the first half. Hornets did a pretty good job forcing some of those TO's.

I may get some flak for this, but once B Davis comes back, I honestly think Lin should be used as a hybrid J-Terry/JJ Barea type with heavy minutes off the bench. It'll take the burden off and can play with the 100% energy he applies while on the court, and hopefully he can adjust to drop the number of TO's he makes.

Once he gets more experience, I think he will honestly get better. Maybe his numbers will not be as flash, but will be higher quality.

I can't wait to watch this Knicks teams in a Lin/Baron Davis, Melo, Chandler, Amare, JR Smith lineup. If they can play just an average amount of defense, this team has the potential to knock off any high seeded team in the playoffs.
