Like hova, I'm going with 8 :P

dare wrote:13. I know you can play the game unlike the X who suck in 2k. :D

I retired after winning a title. All those losses are now forgotten  And besides, hova's been a little worse than me lately.

Seriously though, I always play with bottom 5 teams every year and sim half the games to make it a lot more challenging. If I played with stacked teams like everybody else then it's makes the game a lot easier & a lot less fun IMHO. When I don't have guys like Wade or Kobe or Lebron who can get you baskets whenever you need one, who do I go to? Somebody like Stephen Jackson or Jonny Flynn

I second all of that, except the fact that I am worse :P Maybe I am, but as you said, that's more challenging. If I did one with the Mavs (I had one running in 2k10 offline), then Dirk would be averaging like 30/12 and I'd take most of the Ws.

First recap will be up tomorrow. Results may be a little all over the place at first as I figure out my sliders. LaMarcus Aldridge, like in 2K11, is incredibly dominant. I could see him putting up an MVP season if I have trouble using my guards.

I love following rebuilding stories, but I have a hard time with them myself as I get into the tanking mentality too fast, and lose interest in the current season. This iteration of Portland is perfect for me as it can compete, but isn't a championship roster year.

-hova takes the realistic approach to his small market rebuilds, so as a result, he never gets any better. :P

I say you will win 8 games. With one of those losses coming from the defending champs of course

As I said in other thread, 2K12 sucks in that regard. Bogut is money for me, I just play it like real Bucks & don't use him effectively to make it realistic

Hope you find the right balance with big men scoring too easily. If you do, please let me know as it'll make game better IMHO. I also agree that I'm having trouble scoring with guards too :?

Lamrock wrote:-hova takes the realistic approach to his small market rebuilds, so as a result, he never gets any better. :P

 Sad but true

Must agree that hova's tragic small market rebuilds are easily the most realistic. I don't think I could handle it though.

I think my rebuilds are more like what Sam Presti would do.

Lucky I saw this before you posted, I say 7 games won (Y)

N I agree, hova's teams builds are much more realistic than what we have been doing, a big reason why he has all those Losses

Hov has been doing a great job with the smaller markets (Y)

Can't wait for the recap, L! Hopefully LMA killed it.

Having issues getting the HP Media Zone to work. Do I need to make a new My2K account when switching consoles? Here's hoping it isn't necessary to use my phone camera for pics again. A little embarrassing to have hundreds of 2K screenshots like I did on my old phone.

Aldridge Drops 40 As Blazers Destroy Nuggets In Opener
Newcomer Raymond Felton chipped in 19 assists

Image

Played Game | November 3, 2011: Nuggets (0-1) @ Blazers (1-0) | Season Series: Portland 1, Denver 0

The Portland Trail Blazers kicked off the 2011-12 season at home against the division rival Denver Nuggets. Fresh off an off-season trade that sent veteran iron man PG Andre Miller, and (eventually) sharpshooting SG Rudy Fernandez to Denver for point guard Raymond Felton, it looked to be a heated match-up. For the first half, it looked like that would be the case. The Nuggets were hitting shot after shot, while LaMarcus Aldridge dominated to keep Portland in control.

The game was blown up in the third. Denver failed to stop Aldridge each and every time, and didn't have the firepower to stay in the game. Newcomer Raymond Felton played a key role in that though, putting up a career high 19 assists (and 9 turnovers, but shhhhh) to go with 15 points. Portland would cruise to victory in the fourth, allowing rookie Nolan Smith to get a few minutes of playing time.

Raymond Felton, Craig Smith, Jamal Crawford and Nolan Smith all made their debuts. The aforementioned Felton made the biggest splash, but Craig Smith had 10 points in 14 minutes. Crawford struggled with his shot (7 points, 2-8 FG), while Nolan was innocuous in seven minutes. The Nuggets got good games from their starting guards, but the rest of the roster, including the former Blazers, seemed rusty. George Karl called out his team after the game, "We're the Enver Nuggets right now. No D."

After defeating Enver at home, the Blazers will hit the road tomorrow night to face the new look Clippers at Staples.

Wow you absolutely destroyed with Aldridge. I too have a Blazers competition, so I hope I can make some nice competition. :D

Wow, 17-19 with LA. Seems like Enver had no answers for him. He's s so tough to guard with his turnaround jumper. You really need some size to match that. Felton 19 assists but 9 TOs, not that great if you ask me. It's the same thing with Jeremy Lin IRL. He's getting praise all over the place but his TO number isn't really astonishing.

Can't imagina that Coach McMillan likes that ;)

Been working on it. Those were actually with the game's default sliders to see how it worked with the rosters. Tried Truegamer's 0 sliders last night. First impression was "yuck". The other team shot out to a 14-1 lead and I nearly quit the game. I had a set of "realistic" sliders in 2K11 that also had Quickness at 0, and I grew to really hate those.

But I kept at it, and managed to actually penetrate! Since it was on Rookie (), I managed to get back in the game and these grew on me. He has some great ideas, and the boxscore didn't look too bad, but adjustments are probably needed. I like that I can sometimes score with my guards, but not at will like 2K10, and that the CPU commits turnovers. The low contact shot frequency is good for screenshots since you don't always get impaled by the defender on layups/dunks. I also like how it brings out the tendencies even more and makes it a more strategic game.

Durability at 0 I'm very leery about as I had two injuries in that game after none in the first three. Fouls could be toned down a little bit. I might try a "15 theory" slider set to see if I can make it a little funner while still getting realistic results. Overall, not bad though.

I'd recommend to go with quickness at 15-20. At zero, players don't feel like they are pro athletes. Takes away the dynamics. I suggest to play with those player/game speed sliders in in the team selection screen before every game (when you press triangle button).

Durability is a strange thing. I put it down by 10 and had two injuries after one quarter which could be random but turned me off, so I put it back.

Blazers Come Up Short In LA
Griffin Outduels Aldridge, Billups Scores 28

Image

Played Game | November 4, 2011: Blazers (1-1) @ Clippers (1-1) | Season Series: Los Angeles 1, Portland 0

In a game that saw the Clippers lead for nearly the entire time, Portland just couldn't put it together as they fell 95-86 in their first road game. Blake Griffin dominated from the start, scoring 12 points in the first quarter alone. The Clippers lead for the entire first half, but never by double digits.

LaMarcus Aldridge countered the Clippers' star forward with his own brilliance on both ends in the third quarter. A Wesley Matthews three gave Portland their only lead of the game at 70-69. It lasted 13 seconds. Stifling defense and an onslaught from Chauncey Billups saw the home team hold off the Blazers to win by nine points.

In the post-game press conference, Nate McMillan blamed turnovers, bad defense and a lack of aggressiveness for the loss. "In the first half, we couldn't take care of the ball and Blake went off. In the second half, we only got to the line twice!" The Blazers fall to 1-1 while the Clippers improve to that mark.

That Blake screen looks like NBA Jam.

I don't like 2K12 because it's easy to dominate with big men, regardless of speed or skills. Just spin off the defender for an way two. Wouldn't be surprised if Aldridge averages 30+.

Wow, I'm even more nervous about my Clippers game now. A pretty good performance despite the loss. Good games from Aldridge and Matthews. Tough loss, but I think you'll bounce back against Phoenix.
