Is it just me or does it seem too early in the season to be awarding all-stars?

I can't believe Dirk and Deng made it. And not a huge fan of Johnson getting selected over Smith.

Snubs include: Josh Smith, Millsap, Monta, Jennings, Rondo, Pau Gasol, Rudy Gay

I think it's kind of sad that Duncan didn't make it, but Aldridge couldn't be snubbed any longer. Glad to see Andre Iguodala get in; he's great to watch. And yeah, Luol Deng is a surprise to me too.

Wouldn't call Jennings a snub though. I'd think Irving, Lawson and Rubio deserved more of a mention than him.

I'm more pissed about Nash, Nowitzki, Pierce, and Johnson making it in. =.=
For the west, I would've thought Monta Ellis and Rudy Gay made it for the west while Josh Smith and Rajon Rondo should've made it instead of these guys. >_>

West has a glut of Power Forwards and Point Guards while the East squad consists mostly of Small forwards.

Do you realize what Sir Steven Nashty has been doing this season? Almost 56% FG from the field ...over 45% three pointers

15 pts and 10 assists a game leading the league. Those are godly FG% numbers for a PG who relies on his jumpshot and is more perimeter oriented. He is 38 years old too. Get this man on a more talented team please...(Blazers please). He is amazing. Just wow..

I for one thinks that Dirk don't deserve his selection but I hope he proves the way he is playing right now that he deserves it.

I hate to agree with this, but you're right, his #'s have been horrible this year, maybe if it was 98-99 but it's not. Like almost everyone has said though he's the Finals MVP, not including him wouldn't feel right IMO.

Smith should have been there for the East

Can't believe Deng made it. Yeah, he's underrated, but not to a ASG berth point. As BR said, Aldridge HAD to be there.

Completely forgot about Paul Pierce -- a deserved recognition for him, also glad to see Parker and Nash make the cut.

And now that I think about it, I had Lowry as a reserve, but giving the spot to Westbrook over him, is much more deserved for a guy who has been great in the best team in the West.

The all-star team warrants a different criteria than the All-NBA teams. As this is a shortened season, I do think established stars who haven't necessarily been top 12 players in their conference, but are popular and have been at least pretty good have very good cases to make the game. I have no problem with Dirk making it over Millsap as he's the reigning Finals MVP and the fans want to see him.

I actually thought they did a pretty good job this year. The West reserves are pretty much perfect. Pierce making it over Rondo and Luol Deng I'm not so sure about. I predicted 11 out of 14 correctly.

Do you realize how much they DON'T WIN? Look, Steve Nash IS playing well, but the bloated stats came from beating up scrub teams. I agree he's doing great, but If the team isn't winning because of you're play then getting in the All-Star Game is just plain wrong.

So why aren't you up in arms about Deron Williams making the team when he's been taking all the shots for a 8-19 New Jersey Nets team? Nash has been extremely efficient in addition to putting up good numbers. The Suns aren't at the bottom of the conference, and Gortat is the only other good player on the team.

I don't mind Dirk or Deron making it over more deserving players (Millsap, Rondo) as they are popular and the all-star game is for the fans. If I were a coach, I'd have Nash, Millsap and Rondo on my ballot.

Deron Williams is a bust too IMO, I just singled out Paul Pierce coz there too much Small forwards, and he's on the chopping block for me.

Look at where his stats have been great most of them are vs -.500 teams. Heck, they still don't win against Some of them, that they should be able to beat despite the lack of talent in the Suns. Losses to Cleveland, Houston, New Orleans, and Toronto? All these teams besides Houston are undersized and undermanned compared to Phoenix!

Also, look at the all their losses vs +.500 teams, They lose by more than 16 points a game! Steve Nash can pad his stats all he wants in Phoenix, but getting into the All-Star game is supposed to be recognizing winners. Phoenix is far from being a winner this season, and so is Nash.

I would have thought the All-Star game was recognising the teams that the fans want. If you're going to limit the ballot to winning teams, then at the moment, you're limiting the East to 7 possible teams, as opposed to 11 in the West (if we're just going by teams .500 and above).

If the All-Star game is about recognising winners, then I'm sure someone like Skip Bayless would argue that LeBron doesn't deserve to be there

Coz they are helping their teams win! It's been a long time since the League has done the proper thing and recognize players from winning teams, especially in the East. Last year It couldn't be helped with East being dominated only by the Heat, Chicago , New York, Orlando and Boston. This year, there're different teams that are winning who are not as well represented as they should be.

There's nothing anyone can do about the starting lineup, Since those are who the fans votes in, but the reserves should be comprised of players who represent winning teams.

Or do you recognise the fact that his team is better because of the awesome centre they have named Dwight Howard? It works the other way too; someone could be having an excellent year, but be on a shit team with an awful coach (Kevin Love last season). The All-Star game is purely about entertainment. If anyone in the Magic would even deserve being mentioned as a reserve for the All-Star game, it's not Nelson, it's Ryan Anderson. The bulk of Orlando's production came from only 2 people, Dwight Howard and Ryan Anderson. In the games Ryan Anderson wasn't available, Orlando did not win, and most of them were blow outs vs scrub teams. You can make the argument that the only thing that's keeping Otis Smith's hope that D12 would stay with the Magic is in fact the guy wearing #33 for their team. =.=

But I'd pick Josh Smith first before I even consider Anderson. Josh Smith is the reason Atlanta is still competitive up until now. Joe Johnson would be an after thought if not for Josh's keeping them in games. I'm disappointed at the Eastern Conference coaches for picking Pierce or Johnson ahead of Jsmooth.

JJ or Jsmooth, same shit. The Hawks been winning on team effort. Not heavily due to neither Josh or Joe. I don't think Josh has been any better than Joe at all.
