definitely turning the commentary off, just like how I got rid of the annoying menu people in dirt 3.

My question is, I'm still playing Dirt 2 and having a lot fun. Should I give Dirt 3 a chance? Or is more of the same? Illuminate me.

it's different but still more of the same. IMO Dirt 2 has better tracks (other than the Dirt 3 DLC Alps one) but Dirt 3 has better gameplay. Dirt 3 is a LOT more fun online, with capture the flag, infection, and other mini games. the biggest change was the addition of gymkhana, basically tricks in cars. It's only forced on you once for tutorials if you dont like it, but I enjoyed it.
I havent played it in a while since I reformatted and I dont want to wait for my DLC to redownload, but I'm sure Ill be booting it up soon. I wouldnt pay $50 for it though, you missed a good deal during the steam sales.

Oh that sucks. I guess there's always the "borrow it from a friend" option and then decide. Thanks Jao

Demo is out, yea, going to wait on it. Boost is fun, but the contained "realistic" tracks make it meh,
