I live in Barcelona.
Last year Ricky was supposed to be "the man" at barca, but he did nothing at all. In fact, at the end of the season he lost loads of minutes because the othe pg's were more conected to the game, and he wasn't as intense as he should be.
Seeing how he is playing right now, I guess he had the head at the NBA. It's ok, but it's a shame for barca. And it's kind of a warning for minnesota. If they don't grow as a team, he can do the same again...let's say he can make a "cousins move".

I remember reading back after the draft that he was pissed he couldn't buy himself out.
Then it got swamped in all the "IN YUROP NO STARZ JUS PLAY UR ROLE" defense force.
Even though the latter has never been true for Euro to NBA transplants.

Or a coach that knows how to get it done with depleted talent to work with like he occasionally did in Houston.

C'mon.
It's Rubio's court vision and ability to get his teammates easy shots that is making the T'wolves a better team.

No. Defense is making them a better team.

His vision is good but he turns the ball over little too often as expected. But at the same time he has surpassed most peoples' expectation so far in this young season.

Last season Luke Ridnour was by far the Wolves' second best player. Firing one of the league's worst coaches and hiring one of the best, adding two top 5 draft picks, and actually playing defense are the reasons for the Wolves' early "success". Sounds crazy now but if they get rid of Beasley, Utah falls off and the Grizzlies struggle without Zach, they could be in the hunt for the 8 seed this year.
Rubio has enjoyed a strong start so far, but once he hits the rookie wall (does anybody seriously think Rubio of all players can keep up that 44% 3pt clip?), Ridnour will be the clear choice at PG for Minnesota short-term.
Wed Jan 18, 2012 1:38 am
Why the hell would you play Ridnour? Even if Rubio falls apart, he's your future.
What's the downside? A better pick?
Chasing the 8th seed is like chasing fools gold.

Kevin Love is a superstar and Ridnour has shown no signs of decline to this point of his career. Rubio isn't the only prospect on the team. If he sucks, playing him a lot could cost them a rare chance at a playoff spot. (8th seed in the West has made second round 40% of the time since they tweaked the playoffs so that division winners were only guaranteed top 5 seeds

)

Rubio and defenceJust cause I saw some people write about it.
Thu Jan 19, 2012 1:29 pm
No shit, cuz Rubio has been a great defender so far with DRTG 98. Only problem is TOV%. If he can reduce that, he'll be an awesome PG on both ends.
Thu Jan 19, 2012 2:49 pm
Kevin Love's defensive rating is 97, and the team's is 100 so he could just be a product of playing for a good defensive team. However, this shouldn't come as a surprise as that was perhaps his biggest selling point at one time.
Rubio's very promising, but like Jennings a couple years ago, will look less good when he stops hitting threes at such a high rate.
Thu Jan 19, 2012 4:07 pm
I like how some people don't take statistics into proper context.
Dirk Nowitzki has a DRtg of 97, clearly he's better than Kobe!
Kyle Korver with a DRtg of 98! As great as a defender like The G.O.A.T. = Kobe!
Dennis Rodman with a career PER of only 14.6 in the regular season and 12.3 during the playoffs? Why the fuck is he in the HOF?!

Could be. But he still was part of it. Numbers don't lie.

Except that Rubio already is better than Jennings. But I agree he's likely to hit the wall at some point in his young career as Blake Griffin did.

Are you kidding me?
Please don't tell me you're one of "those"

Oh, i seem to have taken it literally.
Nevermind.

Rodman couldn't even crack 8ppg for his career.

No worries, cuz you've been a decent poster so far with 5524 posts. Only problem is error in sarcasm detection. If you can reduce that, you'll be an awesome poster on most threads. Numbers don't lie. You're already better than most NLSCers though you're likely hit the wall at some point in your posting career like some did.

fun nba trivia: if ricky rubio wins rookie of the year, he'll join tyreke evans and blake griffin from the "weak" 2009 draft class as the 3rd player to win the award.

Sometimes, it's worth the wait. David Robinson probably remains the prime example of that.
