Blocked shots

When a shot is blocked, the player that shot it doesn´t
count as a shot in the stats, I looked it up several times,
and latest when Eddie House were shooting it was blocked by
Ronald Murray, but in the stats House hadn´t made any shots.

This is real similiar to the NBA live 2003, and it pisses me off a little bit.
Is it a bug that need patching, or what.
But EA sport dont make patchesanymore

I haven't noticed that, but I'll look at the stats next time it happens. And EA still does release patches for their games; a patch was released for NBA Live 2003 that resolved various issues for Windows 98 users.

Yep I came about the same problem as well, but it seems kinda random for me. Sometimes, they will record a missed shot, but majority of the time they don't.

i won´t lay my hands into a fire for that (common german proverb) , but i think that it is right that not every shot that has been blocked is registered as a shot attempt. as far as i know only if the shot was released (left shooter´s hands) it will be statistically registered as a shot attempt. if the shot was blocked while the shooter had his hands on the ball it is not considered to be an attempted shot.

anyone here on the board being a part-time referee and can confirm my suggestions?

if it is the actual rule,which i think it is, i think it is great they implemented it that way and we finally should give EA credit for something.

If you go by the book blocking... You are not allowed to touch the ball before it leaves the shooters hands! Thus every block is a missed shot.

Each and every blocked shot should be counted as a shot attempt. Same with team rebounds... Every missed shot should have either a defensive or offensive rebound, a team rebound if the ball goes out of play or a block, if the shot is blocked!

That's by the book... Technically every blocked shot has left the shooters hands. Atleast that is how the rules put it here in finland.

Live 2004 is so statistically buggy. Hope they patch up the free throw + block bugs.

Yup, they don't count em as shot attempts. Also, if you shoot and it hits the top of the backboard and rolls out of bounds it doesn't count as a shot attempt either.

The above I know for sure, but this 2nd part I think is what happens (didn't look into that carefully): When you hit away an inbounds pass and it goes out of bounds I think the Game counts it as a Turn Over on the guy who hit it out of bounds... Any one want to confirm/deny that?

I can confirm that with you, im not sure how often it is, but i often play with my friends and i player lock. I would average around 8 turnovers a game if i put pressure on the person the inbounder will inbound to. I get a hand on it almost all the time, it usually flies out on me and i seem to rack up lots of turnovers that way. Sometimes up to 15 turnovers, and i know i didnt commit that many.

The reason why it dosent count in stats central is because they have not released the shot. it still counts as a block but it only is recorded as a missed shot if they have released the ball.

In the NBA, it counts as a shot attempt. Also, if you pick it up, it should be a rebound.

yea that's a bit dumb coz you could've get more rebound by picking up the blocked shot. hope live 2005 would fix that

What about when the opposing team gets called for a charge...they throw the ball up anyway...it goes in & it's counted as a basket?!?
Another offensive foul bug is when the opposing team is called for the charge...you get position of the ball on the sideline but as soon as you inbound it you get called for an out of bounds penalty!!

there also this bug when a player shoots a free throw after a technical, the players are not placed in defense when the ball is inbounded. so the free throw shooter remains alone in offense a goes for an easy basket

why did EA Sports make so many mistakes this year when everything was correct the previous years ????
