My brother is seriously considering getting this game -- but we are both pretty sure that it would ruin what's left of our social life.
Fri Dec 30, 2011 9:50 am
With your current association stories, I find that hard to believe.
Sat Dec 31, 2011 11:47 am
Yeah, I don't believe it either

For PC users:
Last week, a patch came out and was meant to optimize the game where it's currently CPU-limited, like around major cities, but it still had a few bugs. There is a
new version out that is extremely stable and couldn't be easier to install, it should greatly help with overall performance.

Checking it out now.

BTW guys...I am level 19 and have finished the main quest. I am yet to hear Arrow in the knee line? What the H?

Talk to city guards, you will hear it eventually.

Guards say it randomly. I heard it early in my game.

Why oh why have I spent the last 2 hours mindlessly building my enchanting skill when I already have decent armor and weapons and already think this game is too easy. Not to mention doing so made me go from having too much gold to do anything with, to having a stupid amount of excess and useless gold.
I believe it's time to start the main quest up again....

My brother did the exact same thing. Going up to level 55 with his enchanting and smithing at max (his heavy armor, one-handed, and block skills are all at 100), yet he still doesn't go to High Hrothgar to meet the Graybeards. He eventually felt bored because nobody in the game can beat him and now isn't playing Skyrim again.

There is a difficulty slider, and I have played around with it, but it just becomes too unbalanced from my limited experience with it. When I move up the difficulty one notch, bandits and ice wolfs become a little more interesting, taking more than just 1 or 2 slashes, but enemies like Dragon Priests, Ancient Dragons, and even some bandit chiefs or Ice trolls become freaking GODS.
I understand those priests are supposed to be rare boss encounters, but I died 5 or 6 times nearly instantly before I had to give up and lower the difficulty again. I like a challenge, but really wish the combat was at least somewhat more like Dark Souls, where everything is skill based and timing and position rather than a slider and button mashing. But w.e too many good things about this game to complain.
With smithing and enchanting at 100, I made some ridiculous armor and weapons. Now with double enchantments, my 1 handed weapons as well as bow have a combined damage of easily 150. Made a ring that does 70% Magicka regen, and 70 Magicka boost, paired with some robes and a necklace thingy, and my magicka running out is never an issue anymore.

Will try upping the ante. But upon seeing that even bandit chiefs are tough as hell... oh.

As much as I like this game, it seems the cities are pretty much all the same thing. The hotel staff, the mercenary, that 1 person that wants to fight you. It doesn't help that it tends to crash at inopportune times as well.

^ This is fucking brilliant and hilarious.

Does the main story actually revolve around which faction you choose? Or is it something completely different?
Right now I'm doing quests for the Dark Brotherhood. It's probably the first time in a Besthesda game that I've actually been somewhat evil.

You guys saw this mods? Hilarious and creepy at the same time.

I'm not done with the game yet but I believe that the main story is really more about the return of dragons in Skyrim, what caused it and what it implies for the humans living there. I'm guessing it may tie into the faction war on some level though, I dunno.

No. Joining any side is not relevant to main story. I have finished the main story and have already done bunch of side missions but no pressure on me by the game to join either side yet

Your right except there is a quest during the main quest that only happens if the civil war hasn't been completed.
The temporary peace treaty between the stormcloaks and imperials. So while completing the civil war quest line isn't necessary it does interact with the main quest in this way. After playing Skyrim over 200 hrs already I can pretty much answer any question about it!

I have never tried any of the ENB mods, but
these look sick too.

Also, got to finish
Meridia's quest, where she talks to you thousands of feet above the ground. After the conversation, the game is supposed to fade to white as you fall. But mine did not fade to white, resulting to my character's death.

I have a gazillion mods installed but I'm not using any ENB stuff, because it typically comes at the cost of performance. I use another lighting overall mod that has results very similar to that second screenshot.
Still spending an indecent amount of time on this game by the way, that's pretty much all I do besides going to work, eating and sleeping.

That depth of field mod (dynamic focus I think it's called) shown in the photos could make this game so much more cinematic. Maybe worth playing again.
