Re: NLSC Fantasy NBA 2011-2012 Season

so with Lamrock in, we are set with 14 teams in 3 divisions. yeah one division is short but unless we can find 2 more teams to sign up, it'll remain the way it is. i am in another league where they play head to head but the overall winner gets 1 win and the loser gets 1 loss (like fantasy football, if you play that) as opposed to finishing the week 7-2, 6-3 etc. what do you guys think of this? would you want to switch to that format?

I'd say thats a pretty cool format to try out.

What's the point? You guys would still suck at it like always.

I don't mind which format. I will win this league either way.

(to be fair, the 7-2/6-4 format is probably a better reflection of good teams..?)

Sadly won't have the chance to attend the draft, again... Any rotisserie league this year?

yeah that is true. i completely agree with that but (well, maybe not so much this year in a shortened season)bad teams tend to fall too far behind early and owners give up a bit earlier than most would like. i dunno, just throwing it out there. maybe it's something we could try next year in a full season

You're thinking of a rotisserie scoring league or fantasy point scoring league. In my experience with h2h (points) you can still catch up even if you become inactive for a month. For the former I mentioned, you're screwed if you fall behind even if you're active.

As for the owners having bad teams they should attend the draft then or set their pre-draft rankings to avoid being a bad team or drafting Brandon Roy. This isn't even a daily league where you must pay attention to your rosters daily. It's a weekly league where you can set your rosters for a month and just come back later after a month to set your rosters again, which is what I usually do. You can even set your rosters for the entire season if you want to. Of course, injuries.

I know your trying to encourage more participation but the owners who really want to participate will still do it even if they're far behind (to catch up, which isn't that hard like I said) or to maintain their lead or standing. imo we're better off without those owners who are only active while winning and become inactive when they lose. Even that scumbag Doobie tries to remain active even if he sucks like he usually does.

This isn't the actual NBA where you help the bad teams (inactive owners) at the expense of the good teams (active owners).

We need one more person. ASAP! I'll be home from work on time for the draft, hopefully we get that extra person. And by the way I'll win this league as well as the un-official one.

PS: Who's who in the league? Can we do sometime of roll call or can you change the main post to show who's who in the league.

I think I am that "One more person", Doobie. Accepted the invitation in last minute. Next time, be careful who you invite though. I will probably dominate the league and make it uninteresting for 14 others here.

No you aren't that "one more person". You made it 15, we need an even number of teams.

3 hours till draft time...

yeah we need 1 last person with 2 hours left. unfortunately, if we don't find someone soon, I'm going to have to cut you NovU

for nick, this is the description under the "allow draft pick trades" option:
Increase the level of strategic competition in your league by allowing managers to trade draft picks for next year’s draft. When this setting is enabled, managers can trade draft picks in any round for players and/or other draft picks. Once a trade involving a draft pick is made, this setting cannot be disabled. Draft pick trading is not available for auction draft leagues.

can't trade for current year picks.

lol was he cut?!

yeah when i sent him an invite, Lamrock hadn't joined yet so he made it uneven

haha. guess we'll have to wait for next year for NovU to dominate us

Future picks only? What a strange feature.

Alright so for all of you who laughed at me for taking Jared Dudley in round 6, let me explain my reasons...

Dudley started off cold last season, but found himself towards the end. As a starter last season he averaged 34.1 minutes, 16.3 points, 5.9 boards, 2.2 assists, 2.1 steals, 1.7 threes and just 1.2 turnovers on 52% FG, 46% 3P, and 77% FT shooting. Granted, the sample size is small and it is a risk, but it could pay off some epic rewards if he puts up close to those kinds of numbers again. This is a league where Dorrell Wright was taken in round 3. When you consider his low TO's for a SG/SF it's even more appealing. Nobody really pays attention to the TO category but it still counts just as much as PTS or anything else does. I don't believe Dudley will average less than 30mpg, despite the Shannon Brown signing. He's also coming into his prime and all signs point to him producing in the Phoenix situation. Like i said during the draft, laugh now, but you gotta take gambles to win! So talk to me at the end of the season!

Cool story bro.

Trying to rationalize your pick to us to hide away your 'buyer's remorse'?

Fuck. I missed the draft knowing that it was at five today but I completely forgot about it. :facepalm2: I ended up with Turk and Ariza, two players I would never have picked. :miserable:

I woke myself up from the middle of sleep for the draft but only to find out I was cut.

Couldn't we have gone New Orleans Hornets, a league owned/operated team to make it even.

but then i wouldve been like Stern, vetoing trades

For basketball reasons of course, just to be clear.

Missed the draft too, though it could've come out a lot worse.
