Hey guys,
I'm posting this here because i know this is the forum full of association mode nerds like me.
Does association mode give you a boner? Love the managerial element of the NBA? Love building a team? If this is you then you have to know about NLL! http://www.nbaliveleague.com
It's currently looking for new GM's to take over the available teams. And i'd love to see the league fill out! JOIN US

This league is the ultimate manager sim. It's like association mode except you play with 29 other GMs, and the seasons are on pace with each NBA season. I've personally been in the NLL for about 8 years now, and i can safely say that it's freakin' awesome. I started with the shitty 2003 Denver Nuggets, and have built my team up over the years and was West Conf. champion last season.
Don't be fooled by the name "NBA Live league" though. We used to use NBA Live as the simulator (we run cpu vs cpu games and save the stats/results of the games), but now we've switched to 2k and the results are arousingly realistic.
Anyways if you have any questions, just ask.
Or head to the site and contact the league commish. Either way.
DO IT.
EDIT:
Current available teams:
None

So we don't actually play games just run the team? I'm so in if so.
Sun Dec 11, 2011 1:46 pm
Nice! You would be a good addition.
And that's correct, we don't actually play the games. The results of the games are achieved by getting the cpu to play the cpu, 12 minute quarters (specific settings/sliders etc), and we let the game play out and we save the stats at the end and submit into the site. The site then processes the stats file and automatically updates the stats on the site. (Our webmaster is a clever cookie)
Basic responsibilities as a GM are basically just being active (posting in the forum, posting team articles, responding to trade offers) and it's usually a good idea to volunteer to sim 1 or 2 games per week. (which is easy to do since you can put 2k into window mode and let it play out while you browse the net)
Now is a good time to join too with offseason kicking off in a couple of weeks.
Any other questions just ask. Otherwise, get on board!

Agggh, see I play on Xbox, would I need PC to play in the league?
Sun Dec 11, 2011 2:04 pm
Pretty much, yeah.
Sun Dec 11, 2011 2:06 pm
Man, I was hoping I would be able to join, it's okay though.
Sun Dec 11, 2011 2:09 pm
Damn. I suppose you could ask if you can join without providing any sims all season? But i'm not sure that's allowed.
Anyways, any others that may be reading are more than welcome to join!
note: i just put PC in the thread title to avoid confusion in future

I'll see what I can do, this leauge looks pretty professional.
EDIT: WOuld I contact the comish to do so?
Sun Dec 11, 2011 2:35 pm
Yup.

I play PC, how does the team selection work? And when are the games simmed?
Sun Dec 11, 2011 3:56 pm
Well the league has been running for like a decade... so 23 (or whatever the number is) people already have a team (i.e. i've had denver nuggets since 2003)... when you sign up you can choose a team from the available teams that don't currently have a GM... it's a matter of first in best dressed...
Current available teams at the time of this post:
Atlanta
Boston
Charlotte
Detroit
Golden State
Houston
Utah
Games are simmed according to a schedule... generally a team will have probably 4 or so games per week.
Any other questions just ask.

I just signed up but can I joined without simming any games.
Sun Dec 11, 2011 4:24 pm
I'm going to do the same, as long as Charlotte's still available.
Sun Dec 11, 2011 4:28 pm
Nice one boys! Good to have you all on board.
P.s. Of the available, Charlotte will probably be the most challenging task. We've been waiting for someone to come in and turn that franchise around. They're stuck with some pretty yuck contracts, but luckily you can amnesty 1 player thanks to the new CBA.

I like the Golden State team here, but really can I join even though I cant submit a sim game to the site. I just want to become a GM
Sun Dec 11, 2011 4:36 pm
Yeah, i asked the commish and you can join regardless.
It's actually your loss if you don't sim games though. Because you get "GM points" for simming games (a system that you will find out more about), which are a pretty pivotal aspect of the league in some cases.
The GM pt system is in place as kind of like a reward/penalty system. It's kind of like a currency for the league.
But yeh, you can join. Glad to have ya!

I'm not sure how often I'll be able to submit a sim either. is that going to be a problem.
As for Charlotte being difficult, I'll find my way to the playoffs.
Sun Dec 11, 2011 4:38 pm
It's not going to be a problem. Like i said, it's your loss. If you don't sim games, then more games for me to sim.
I would recommend simming a game a week though if you can. It's generally a sign that you're contributing.
Sun Dec 11, 2011 4:46 pm
Yeah, I'll definitely try to.
Sun Dec 11, 2011 5:06 pm
I can play with 2k11 right?
Sun Dec 11, 2011 5:37 pm
Just answered the email they sent to me.

Depends. If REDitor gets finished before new year then we'll use 2k12. If not then we'll go with 2k11.
