What if this was a ploy to try and increase the interest in the nba? They were making progress, then it's take it or leave it, they left it, lawsuit, lawsuit settled and an agreement right around thanksgiving and opening day on christmas?

You're reading too much into it Pdub. The moon landing conspiracy theories were more plausible than that.
You're giving too much credit to Hunter and players union to even think that they are competent to do that.

If it was, they handled it poorly. Neither side ended up looking particularly good and there seemed to be a decent amount of people who weren't too worried about games being lost.

Maybe the government staged the NBA lockout to make the economic crisis seem more real and therefore giving them more justification to invade some country and steal their resources.

Whilst this is true, if you find yourself holding positions you can in no way justify, it's an indication that the positions you hold are probably incorrect and certainly worth re-examining.

NBA season would require back-to-back-to-backs

The NBA regular season would run through April 26 and require teams to play at least one set of back-to-back-to-back games if a new labor deal is ratified in time to start on Christmas.

The league posted an outline of what the schedule would look like on its Twitter pages Sunday. The plan is a 66-game regular season, ending about 10 days later than usual. The last possible day of the NBA finals would be June 26, two weeks later than the championship series ended last season.

Teams would play 48 games within their conference and 18 non-conference games. No team would play on three straight nights more than three times.

Back-to-backs might also be played during the second round of the postseason.

They should make sure those back to backs are like home stands for each team, while the visiting teams get a day off to travel.

The union will be reinstated, the deal is expected to be ratified next week and teams are opening their training facilities to players, so it appears everything is on track.

Don’t view ’99 as guide to short season

Over the next couple of months, fans, experts, coaches and general managers will all be asking: Which sort of team — old, young, filled with holdovers, stocked with free agents — might benefit from this compressed schedule? And which teams will suffer?

The only honest answer is: We don’t really have any idea. Smart people around the league have theories, but they happily admit that those theories have no proof, and that many of them would apply in an 82-game season. Dig into the data from 1999 — our one-season sample size — and you won’t find anything definitive, other than teams played very slowly overall and missed more shots than ever.

I'd suggest that as always, the cream will rise to the top. The teams with the solid rotations that work well together will be the frontrunners but as always, the chance for an upset here and there will exist. As noted, same deal as a normal 82 game schedule.

Meanwhile, looks like we're on track for the deal to be ratified, it's all but official apparently.

if a player is amnestied, he will become a free agent and if a team will sign him will have a new contract?

He can be claimed off waivers. Of course, not all players are willing to go along with it.
