It also involved the El Gran Luchador character.

So...the Anonymous GM angle never gets resolved, Johnny Ace is running the show, another potentially interesting angle gets hotshotted along with some convoluted logic and JR is once again used as a punching bag, kayfabe fired so we can listen to Cole gloat and continue to ruin the product. Thanks heaps, WWE.

There goes our fine period for the WWE.

Re: Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

If nothing else, they seem to have blown through what could have been 6-12 months of potentially interesting storylines in just a couple of months.

What's Mr.Mcmahon problem with JR?

Re: Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Sat Oct 15, 2011 10:13 am

Vince apparently just enjoys messing with him, possibly due to JR being old school and all about the "wrestling" while Vince is about "sports entertainment". It's a shame to see JR continually humiliated and shunted off TV when he's still capable of being the best announcer in the business, while Cole's increasingly awful work is rewarded by turning WWE programming into The Cole Show.

Re: Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Sat Oct 15, 2011 11:21 am

Yeah that's a shame. JR is a good commentator because his style is a hybrid of sports technicality and storytelling. Cole in his old Smackdown years sounded better, he only sounds good working with Tazz. Cole working with JBL sounds old school with JBL being a heel bandwagoner. And now with Booker T., sounds worse than ever.

They should've toned down his heel schtick or ended it at Wrestlemania, given him some time off and brought the character back humble and in the background, as play-by-play guys should be. Sadly, they went in the other direction.

Re: Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Sat Oct 15, 2011 6:34 pm

Gotta agree with Andrew. (Y) I think they should have made him go humble and I actually like his commenting style back on Smackdown 2002-2006.

Just seen Raw. The main event match had some obvious spots: Miz telling the referee to confront him after an Irish whip for a distraction.

Some angles never had a closure. Like what Andrew said, the anonymous GM. HHH having removed from position happened too fast. And the guy Laurinaitis was talking to (and eventually was texting to from the past few weeks) is still unrevealed.

Re: Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Sun Oct 16, 2011 9:47 am

They could still take things in an interesting direction but I'm just not feeling too optimistic about future programming, what with JR getting booted off commentary again and the way they've hotshotted the recent angles and made them so contrived. It's a shame.

Do they really call the two Sin Cara's Azul and Negro?

I guess that was Booker's idea.

"THERE GOES MY BOY SIN CA-RA A-ZOOL!"

Re: Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Thu Oct 20, 2011 11:55 pm

with Raw screwing up with Johnny Ace interrupting matches and going back to Cole as a be all end all, I was really hoping TNA would step it up...

and they did! Gail Kim is back in TNA, noice

and then they fucked it up (surprise). TNA did nothing but build up for Bobby Roode's first reign at the PPV and he lost, so on Impact lets give a title shot to James Storm (Roode's tag partner), and let him win in a 1 minute match over Angle. Then this happened...
On his twitter account Eric Bischoff wrote the following about TNA putting the TNA Title on James Storm instead of Bobby Roode: "Having a blast watching Internet marks react. Candy from a baby!"
Hulk Hogan wrote: "Goodmorning HULKAMANIACS,can't wait for all the Rood fans that turned to haters to see the big picture, thank God we still have real marks HH"

Well Eric and Hulk, when you pull a swerve just to pull a swerve, instead of following through on a storyline that you built strongly to, yes it's very easy to get people to react. Who the marks are, however, is certainly open to debate.

......Seriously, you trash the IWC and talk about how they (we?) don't matter for crap, but then you give James Storm his first singles title for hahas at their (our?) expense?

They really have turned TNA/Impact Wrestling into WCW without the financial or ratings success.

Wow. If all that for the fuzz, then fuck it.

I felt that way a few months after the live monday show. bringing in big names like Jeff Hardy, RVD, Ric Flair, Mr Anderson (who i was never sold on in the first place) and also the 4 sided ring have made them WWE wannabes and they have lost everything that made them TNA.

Re: Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

All well and good to trash the IWC, but that's something like 90% of their fanbase. Fucking stupid.

being unpredictable is one thing, but trashing IWC on twitter, over spoiler taping results, while "normal" fans get caught up in the crossfire :turrible:

Agreed, though I always felt the six-sided wrong was unnecessarily gimmicky.

But lest we forget, controversy creates cash!

Even though WCW lost millions even as they were beating the WWF in the ratings during the Monday Night War.

it might have....although of course its a great time to gloat about it

TNA Impact Wrestling's Eric Bischoff posted the following on Twitter in reference to the 10/20 edition of Impact Wrestling:

Ever notice how the shows that the dirt sites put over get the lowest ratings and the ones they bury get the highest? hmmmm.

The ratings were the best of the year.

Re: Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Mon Oct 24, 2011 8:52 am

If Bischoff weren't so smug and convinced of his genius, he'd realise that the high rating doesn't necessarily invalidate the criticism. Maintaining and continuing to see an increase in the ratings is a whole other matter entirely.

i'm really impressed with ziggler's work, and he put on a pretty good match immediately after a lengthy tag title match.

shocker, more interferences from nash, miz, & truth. also, cena telling adr to make a reversal as he is about to throw him over the announce table. the ring collapse was a bit gimmicky, especially since it's been done before. however, doing the last man standing match immediately after it on the messed up ring allowed some unique spots.

Re: Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Seriously, I haven't seen Cena got pinned clean without any interference or any sort of "controversy" lately. Whether that's still part of the Superman booking or a way to preserve his character, I mean c'mon: let him get pinned "fair."
