Rather than trying to keep the Celtics together for moar titles, I decided to break up the gang and go young.

Building around Pierce and Rondo, I got rid of KG and Bradley for Monte Ellis and David Lee. Then Ray Ray for Greg Oden (14 game season, even if he has a heartattack, he should be back for the next game to heal) and their rookie Ngumbo? Got rid of Ngumbo for Ronnie Brewer and Brian Cardinal (fuck ya).

So after all that, I have six players with expiring contracts and everyone happy (with little ^2's next to their OVR). The combo of Rondo, Ellis, and Pierce is just unfair. If the play breaks down I just dump it to Lee for some post magic, and Oden pretends he's useful with a rebound and block here and there.

My bench is hilariously shallow. I'm trying to develop JaJuan Johnson, but really, when the bench players are in, I just run the ball through whatever starter is still in the game.

I'm planning on trying to get the first pick in the draft through a trade with the last place team at the trade deadline. I really want Austin Rivers (Duke!), I mean, I'll trade for him just to have someone on the bench who might be able to do something behind my small 3. With Oden being one of my expiring contracts and 6 other players going away, I might try to sign Dwight. Depends on how far I can go in the playoffs. Currently 4-2 (14 game season).

I'm doing my first ever Dallas Maverick dynasty and made some trades. I got rid of Jason Kidd, Peja Stojakovic, and a few lesser players. We now have J.J. Hickson, Ramon Sessions, Demarcus Cousins and Sean Williams. Rodrigue Beaubois will be our starting point gaurd and Sessions will be our back up.

This year's draft is average and we'll probably draft a small forward. when Dirk's contract expires i'm going to release him, in order to free up some cap space and go even younger. Right now, Dallas has a good record, but i'm building for the future, i'm building my team around my big men, and future starters Demarcus Cousins and J.J. Hickson.

Hickson will be our athletic offensive big man, and Cousins will be a tremendous shot blocker and offensive and defensive rebounder, at least by the time Tyson Chandler leaves our team, hopefully i'll be able to resign him in the offseason, this is the first season in the dynasty.

I'm going to try to make Rodrigue a great passer like Jason Kidd is, as well as to give a boost to his three point shooting, so he'll be a combination of Steve Nash and Jason Kidd.

Got bk from holiday and finaly had a chance to unwrap nba 2k12.

Was a hard decision which team to go with for the association mode. The pick was between Kings and Nets, the other teams were to stacked already or had players I dont like.

Decided to go with a Kings as their roster looked f*ck up.

PG Jeter
SG T.Evans / J. Salmons / M.Thornton / D.Greene
SF F. Garcia
PF J.J. Hickson/ J.Thompson / D.Jackson
C D.Cousins/ S.Dalembert/ H.Whittside

as we can see, only one real pg, who is not good enough to be a back up. And to many SG's.

So before I started, used a trade finder and put Salmons and Jackson on offer. And hoped for a descent PG to be offered. Well not sure about descent but got offered B.Davis and D.Gibson from Cavs and they wanted my 2012 2rd pick as well. Accepted.

Current roster:
S5:

PG B.Davis
SG T.Evans
SF M. Thornton (undersized as hell)
PF J.J. Hickson
C D. Cousins

6th man J.Thompson
7th S.Dalembert
8th. F.Garcia
9th D.Greene
10th D.Gibson
11th E.Jeter
12th H.Whittside

All star level. 12min quarters. 58 games season. The Truth's NBA 2k12 Simulation Sliders Allstar Real Player %.

First 3 games of a season away @Mavs, @SPurs, @Rockets. First thought f*kin great.

But Kings were up for a surprise. Half way thru the first game 55-46. But started 3rd Q 2-19. And lost on a buzzer beater 97-100 by C.Butler (thanks to Thornton 6'4" SF lol). Anyway was happy with this loss , as did a great job against Nowitzki 8pts fouled out.

There was not the only surprise. As the next game ended up 102-92, W for the Kings. Old Spurs was no match for the young Kings.

1-1 and a trip to houston on the way.

Have to say that sliders a really good.

Will have to check those sliders out. I'm using PuntNL's sliders, which I like because they don't deviate from the game's set too much.

Got a question, since 2k12 association mode has no major improvements is it worth playing it especially without the rookies or should I stick playing 2k11, maybe until a patch comes out for 2k12.

2K12 has contract extensions, better graphics, more moves, fresh gameplay, rosters with excellent rookies and 2011-12 dates and commentary. I'm playing out my Blazers association in 2K11 but I can't wait to switch to 2K12.

But what about the ai trade logic that really ruins the game for me. I'll buy the game next week and will try to play it. Got to free up my drive though since I'm planning to play both games.

It's not nearly as bad for Association. The potential seems to be a bit off (Paul George can be traded for any second-tier all-star) and trades are a bit too frequent (may be patched - I keep CPU trades off until January) but it's not bad.

After two promising games away @mavs and @spurs I had my hopes high, but.. Never had a chance @rockets 93-100 and in the first home game of the season vs raptors 90- 104. Like that is not enough, lost Thornton to an injury.

Jao, would be nice to see father & son reunited in Boston. Make it happen (Y)

So is 14 game the length of season or do you just play 14 of the 82 games that computer selects as key matchups? Was hoping for the latter.

That's why I'm waiting for a good PS3 roster with tendencies and potential adjusted plus some realistic draft classes to download.

Are you going with realistic fictional or real draft classes this year? Unfortunately, the 14 game season is just that. I'll probably stick with 29 for short seasons because with 14 games, the playoff seeding's ridiculous.

Real. It's looks like the guys over at OS are making some good ones.

Another option is I may just play an Association with '95/96 rosters (Lakers with Ced Ceballos, Eddie Jones & pre-Shaq & Kobe) & just have generic classes, unless the guy makes real draft classes to go with roster file.

I'd be surprised if they had real draft classes (which would be time consuming but fucking awesome and would totally be worth doing a story for in that case) but that would be cool. Would be interesting, though unrealistic, to have a story with a mix of old and new players. Some kind of history-themed Lockout thing. Would be really cool if you could have the NBA legends as rookies as part of the draft classes. I actually may go with generics for my next story, but we'll see.

I'd like to give another recommendation for The Truth's sliders. Very realistic. Had a game that was like 101-87 with 12 minute quarters, but didn't feel slow or have FG% in the thirties. Other than it being extremely difficult to get to the line as much as the CPU, it plays great.

It has its issues, but I must admit, the sim engine impresses me a little bit. Did a sim on a 14 game season and got very reasonable standings and all-stars. Doubt I'd ever pick that option, but that could be good for multiple seasons. (I actually stumbled on an (actually decent!) Operation Sports association in 2K12 that is already in season 5 will all games played thanks to the 14 game schedule)

2K11's starting to feel awfully dated. Even with its issues, I can't wait to move up to 2K12 permanently, and return 2K11 to Gamefly once and for all. :P

Well, i've done too many Cavs dynastys, but i made some more trades. And now we have players like DeMarcus Cousins who is now a very good inside scorer and good shot blocker. We had Stephen Jackson, but released him when his contract expired, we also have LeMarcus Aldridge.

Oh yeah, Cousins is now 90 overall, and Hickson is gone elese where. I'll do another Cavs dynasty another time, but this time like with the mavs dynasty with dbf editing of the staff, but all in all we have a winning record now, about a season or two ago we went to the western conference finals and lost to someone, i forgot.

yea the 14 game seasons only have you play against the Eastern Conference teams and vice versa for the West. And I actually didn't think of the whole Austin Rivers playing under papa Doc

started an association (Superstar mode) with Celtics lost twice due to the perfection of melo (denver) and igoudala (phili) jumpshots. I really need to get a new slider for better gameplay. :(

The game against the 76ers was pretty close, down 8 in the last 2 minutes, I was able to find the touch from the outside to trim it down to just 2 in the last 31 sec via Pierce and Allen's treys. They lost the ball and when we got time to setup a play with 2.6 sec. ROndo was able to find Rayray on the side for a pretty open three, but suprisingly the shot was way off target :( we lost 83-81.

2nd game against the knicks. this is the game that made me think if I should lower my setting to All-star or find a new Slider. :) Melo is really unstoppable and all the other players was able to score from any angles, with or without defenders in front. we lost by 13, 88-75 with melo scoring 36 pts in 16-20 FG!

Due to frustration, I traded murphy, big baby, arroyo, and pavlovic for Spurs' anderson, neil and splitter. I will resume my game later at Portland.

Should i lower to All star difficulty or new Slider, maybe The Truth's sliders?? :)

In case I choose getting the The Truth's sliders, two questions:
- i assume i need to restart my association just like in prev 2k games, correct?
- will the scoring still be realistic for 8 min qtrs and 12 min simulated qtrs?

Thanks!

Definitely don't restart if you don't absolutely have to. Unless you really don't have the five minutes to manually edit the sliders, I'd try out The Truth's sliders on All-Star difficulty for your next game. There is one caveat though: you'll need to play 12 minute quarters. Playing what I thought was high-octane basketball, I only scored like 90 points in 12 minute quarters (though I did shoot just 40% from the field). You'll be pleased with the realism though.

One thing I do sometimes that I don't believe anybody else does when I'm in between difficulties is play the home games on the easier difficulty, and the road games on a harder one.

Good luck!

Kobe Bryant announced on Christmas Eve that he is ending his career after 21 seasons., & second all-time scoring, with 37,000 something points. The sad thing is he wasn't selected for the All-Star game, though hew was in the voting at one point. He still only has 5 rings, & that most likely won't change, with the Lakers now Super young, other than Kobe & Bynum.

So I ended up finishing 2 games over .500, giving me the 7 seed in the playoffs. Beat the crap out of the 2 seed Nets (they had made some trades) but had another heart breaking loss to the Hawks in round 2 (remember 1-1-3-3 format). I say another because I could have been 3 games over .500 if the Hawks didn't beat me in the last game of the season. If it weren't for tie-breakers I could have been out of the playoffs. Jazz (no major trades) ended up winning it all meeting the Hawks (no major trades, but somehow got JR Smith for barely anything) in the finals. Lakers and Heat were eliminated in the conference finals.

The X wrote:Jao, would be nice to see father & son reunited in Boston. Make it happen (Y)

Made it happen, just for you, and destroyed my roster because of it.
Image

First off, yea, he's wearing the best Celtics number possible, but Jeff Green was wearing it last year and since I resigned him after the rookies got signed, he is now 12 which is JaJuan's number from last year, this is fucking up my icon passing. My traded pick from earlier got me #6, Rivers went #1 to the Nuggets. So I traded for it. Offered Moore (2011 Rookie) and Rodney Carney for him. Nuggets came back with a swap of next year's picks, along with me adding JaJuan and them adding Mozgov. F it, Moore, Carney, and Johnson were little cancers this past year, wanting minutes and they sucked. With my #6 pick I got.......Barnes from UNC. Figure I'll use him to get me some new picks next year.

So I had a total of 5 signed players before the draft. Paul, Rondo, Ellis, Lee, and someone else who obviously doesnt mean a lot to me. Got three rookies, Rivers, Barnes, and a generic with my 49th pick. Then I wasn't able to sign anyone through free agency, even Oden who was ecstatic with his mood was all life, F off C's. The CPU did get me Jeff Green and Delonte West though (I had offers for both but was denied). So I had 10 on the roster, needed 12. Before training camp I was able to sign Birdman and Redd for MLEs (big 4 make me over the cap).

So if I were playing NBA Live on the 360, this is a "rebuilding" year for sure. I destroyed the roster 2 times in a row now, it's a short team, and not deep, but everyone should be happy. Jeff Green is happy starting but having a 6th man role and everyone else is considered "bench" with the exception of BIrdman and Redd who are Role players. After I posted how everyone was happy on my team, it just went to shit because of the CPU assigned roles, I dont think I'll have that issue this year though.

1. Rondo
2. Ellis
3. Pierce
4. Jeff Green
5. David Lee
b. Delonte West
b. Austin Rivers
b. Harrison Barnes
b. Michael Redd
b. Chris Andersen
b. Mozgov
b. 3rd Rookie

I definitely need to change some coach settings to get these guys to run more.
Opinions are my own.

Ok, I'm getting 2K12 this weekend and I'd like to start an association. Two at the same time, but sporadical, something like Valor is doing. Spurs will go under simulation or mostly on interventions.

Team suggestions? Open to anything. You know I've changed, no trades to blow the team, come on

Second that. I was playing around in quick game mode and once chose the Rockets. Without Yao, this team is lacking a real star but has lots of decent & talented players. Could be fun.
