I have pmed my application axel, its one of the reasons you put me on the 2013 draft

I've got one spot left (given that Radioman's ok with forfeiting his spot). Martti., you were the first to post of the preferences, I'd recommend sending in your application before the season starts. Application is here. Fill it out, PM it to me. :)

Others who'd like to join can PM me an application anytime, that way you'll have first dibs at the 2013 draft class and not worry about filling out the application later on. :)

do you want me to fill mines out again?

I would be the best prospect this season:D

Must've done some sort of miscalculation, there were actually 3-1/2 spots left originally. King Dee, Mark., and Psychedelic are no shows, and Radioman agreed to forfeit his spot if someone who's more active takes his place. Three spots have been taken so far, KJ, M4L, and badreligionau are officially in the 2012 draft class. One more spot. Remember, I've linked to the application a couple of times above. Martti.?

No need, unless you'd like to change something.

2011 Preseason [5-2]

Sat Sep 10, 2011 4:49 am

Before you even begin to ask me why the preseason scores are so low, let me just link you to this article.

Rockets 2011 Preseason

Houston Rockets 58-42 Washington Wizards

Led by Kevin Martin's game high 18 points (5/10 FG, 7/8 FT) to go along with three assists and two rebounds, the Rockets were able to take their preseason opener on the road, blowing out the Washington Wizards in the nation's capital. Washington did not get off to the best of starts and were left behind as they shot just 40% from the field compared to 50% for the Rockets. Rashard Lewis put on a show with 13 points and two rebounds. Nick Young chipped in seven points, two assists, a board and a steal, but shot just 3/10 from the field. First overall pick Derrick Williams had six points and four rebounds. Yao Ming chipped in seven points, five boards, and an assist, a block, and a steal. Aaron Brooks rounded out the scoring bunch well with seven points, three rebounds, three assists, and three steals shooting 3/3 from the field off the bench.

[1-0] Houston Rockets 38-44 Minnesota Timberwolves [1-0]

After a great start to the preseason the Rockets went down to the T-Wolves in Minnesota. Patrick Patterson led the Rockets with eight points, two boards, and a block, and Luis Scola had seven points, seven rebounds, a steal and a block. Kevin Martin was held to only five points, a rebound and an assist. For Minnesota, Kevin Love had 12 points, five boards, two assists, and a steal going 3/4 from the field and 6/8 from the charity stripe. Rookie Jonas Valanciunas looked good with seven points, four boards, two assists, and three blocks, while Michael Beasley and Jonny Flynn contributed six points apiece.

[1-1] Houston Rockets 59-44 Los Angeles Lakers [1-1]

The intensity of the first half was electrifying; this felt more than just a preseason game. Both teams began to trade blows, exchanging leads with Kevin Martin and Kobe Bryant putting on a scoring show. Martin scored 22 points, four boards, three assists, and a block shooting a magnificent 7/9 from the field and 7/7 from the free throw line. Bryant had 19 points, a board, an assist, and shot 8/13 from the field. At the start of the fourth quarter, Houston began to pull away, as the Lakers did not have an answer for what came their way. Yao Ming scored eight points and blocked two shots, shooting 4/5 from the field. Patrick Patterson had seven points, two boards, and Shane Battier also had seven, each player shooting 4/4 from the free throw line. Battier had a momentum-changing three-pointer in the third quarter: Martin was doubled and he was found wide open in the corner. For LA, Andrew Bynum had nine points and four rebounds, while Pau Gasol had six points, five boards, two steals and shot 3/3 from the field. Rookie Xavier Nelson had six points and four assists but shot just 1/6 from the field.

[2-1] Houston Rockets 52-54 Orlando Magic [1-1]

The Orlando Magic put on a show of three-pointers, going 7/17 from downtown. Leading the way was Jason Richardson, with 24 points, two rebounds, and shooting 8/14 from the field, 4/9 from beyond the arc, and 4/5 from the free throw line. Gilbert Arenas chipped in two other three-pointers, scoring 13 points, eight assists, three rebounds and shooting 3/7 from the field. Dwight Howard caps it off with 12 points, seven boards, and shooting 6/9. For the Rockets, Kevin Martin recorded 14 points, six boards, and two assists, while Courtney Lee and Kyle Lowry both chipped in nine points each, Lee going 3/4 and Lowry going 4/5. Despite having their chances, the Rockets blew their chance to take this one, as a last minute run put them in a decent position to tie, but just could not get it done as Orlando closed out the game with clutch free throws.

[2-2] Houston Rockets 57-43 Indiana Pacers [2-2]

Image Image

The huge 21-6 second quarter run by the Rockets was what ultimately won them the game; a 17-point deficit is too much to try to overturn with 12 more minutes left in the game. Kevin Martin continued his efficient scoring with 17 points on 5/11 shooting and 6/6 from the line, also grabbing six rebounds along the way. Luis Scola chipped in 10 points and four boards, while Terrence Williams converted on both of his field goal attempts, scoring six points. Danny Granger had a bit of a struggle, shooting 5/12 from the field and scoring 15 points. Carl Landry added eight points and seven boards, and Paul George scored six points, two rebounds and shot just 2/7 from the field.

The preseason ended with the final two games ending in blowout wins for the Rockets against the Orlando Magic and Washington Wizards at home. Finishing 5-2, a decent glimpse has been caught at how good the Rockets will be this season. With a very potent and young roster, the homecourt will be an ideal place to start with wins as last season the Rockets went 35-6 at the Toyota Center. If every player does his part, things will go well for the Rockets as they begin the season on the road in Los Angeles.

Uh....yeah, I think you wrote something about there will be no competition/guessing game to earn points for our players. How do we upgrade our player then?

Standings for the NLSC Tournament will determine the draft order. Few bothered in playing the games, and even fewer bothered to spend their points. It's best if something isn't mandatory/time-consuming for the readers.

Season opener(s) next, facing the Clippers and Lakers both at Staples Center.

You should let the bench play in most preseason games, for Yao and the gang might get injured.

Ah, fair enough. And Fracture, I rested Yao and Battier the last two games (which I simmed, hence why I don't know the scores because it advanced me to the regular season).

So a sure thing of the future (hopefully): Week One against Clippers, Lakers will be up either tomorrow or Wednesday. Then, I will be making a big effort to speed this up. :)
