Professional Wrestling (WWE, TNA, ROH, etc)

Other video games, TV shows, movies, general chit-chat...this is an all-purpose off-topic board where you can talk about anything that doesn't have its own dedicated section.

They kinda do have to do that, but I'm not sure they will. They haven't let anyone use their own name in years.

Though with that said, I'm not sure TNA intimidates them (for lack of a better term) as much as it did a couple of years ago. If Hogan showed up and achieved nothing, I don't know that they'd be too bothered about Colt Cabana bringing viewers over.

It's probably a move to appease CM Punk more than anything else.

If anything CM Punk says is true.

The fact that people keep having to question that is why this angle is so fucking brilliant.

Seems likely.

Agreed, so far so good with it for the most part. Hopefully they can keep the momentum going through Summerslam by having Punk go over.

Having Cena beat for two straight PPVs is a rare feat these days.

It's amusing, until the self-congratulatory plug at the end.

Anyhow, I was watching SmackDownHEY I'M MICHAEL COLE AND I'M BETTER AT GOLF THAN BOOKER T!!!!!...did anyone on commentary during the Divas match notice there was a match on?

WWE: Where our matches are so boring, even the announcers get bored and go on Twitter.

With the way they're booked the Divas matches are a waste of time, but Cole's gimmick doesn't help to even try and put them over.

OH WHAT?!?

EDIT: And why give R-Truth and JoMo fucking exposure on SmackDown, and have this WWE Vault segment when these guys can appear on the show?

Also, Gail Kim's ass. :(

Gail Kim apparently quit, which isn't surprising given what happened on RAW. John Morrison has had a bit to say regarding Melina's release, understandable but he's probably just killed his last chance of breaking through the proverbial glass ceiling.

It wasn't just the Divas match though. It was every match.

They stopped calling moves a while ago, and whatever, but now they're not even acknowledging that there's a match going on, and instead Josh Mathews is checking his Twitter, and finding a tweet from Booker T, and showing it to Cole, and Cole is pissed, and off we go with Booker and Cole arguing again. The Bryan-Kidd match was spent burying Daniel Bryan. In two weeks Cole is the only guy I've seen get over on SmackDown. The only guy.

On RAW, he manages to stick to the heel thing, and other people get over, yet it seems you put him with Booker T and all hell breaks loose. To the point where I'm actually starting to think it might be Booker more than it is Cole that's the problem with that announce team.

That remains the problem with Cole's heel run, it's getting him over but he's an announcer; he's supposed to be putting over the people in the ring and the storylines, not himself. Booker could be part of the problem, he's not the worst announcer we've seen (Mike Adamle, anyone?) but it's clearly not his strong suit. What I'd do right now is have JR and King on RAW with Josh Matthews and someone else on Smackdown (maybe Booker, perhaps William Regal), have Matt Striker do backstage interviews kind of like Macho Man did in 1991 when he was temporarily "retired" following his feud with Ultimate Warrior and give Cole a run as a heel manager.

Come to think of it, they've got Kevin Nash under a legends contract at the moment. He might be decent on commentary.

I turned on Smackdown and heard Bryan's new theme music and thought I'd watch the match, I only got to the first commercial break with Cole's announcing. They did not mention the match against Kidd at all, it was all storyline crap with Cole.

Booker T commentary is hilarious at times. He even comments on how John Cena got successful with his limited moves and skills

Agreed, he's had a fine in-ring career...a couple of questionable gimmicks aside, but that wasn't his fault. Not quite as good on commentary though.

um, so I have a question

Cena vs Rock with the WWE Title is essentially set in stone.

We have Daniel Bryan stating that he is cashing in MiTB for the World Title at WM.

Where does the Royal Rumble winner play into all of this?

Cena/Rock might not be a title match after all, I wouldn't be too shocked if Punk got a long run with the belt or someone else was champ come the event. They could always have a triple threat match involving the Rumble winner or they could have the Rumble winner cash in their shot early. They did that with Cena once before.

I certainly hope not. Not like Rock is going to wrestle full-time.
