IGN Feature: Michael Jordan in Video Games

In celebration of the NBA 2K12 cover announcement, IGN took a look back at MJ's appearance in video games over the years:

NBA Live 2000 stands out as a sentimental favourite for me, NBA 2K11 would top the list in terms of quality (though I still say 2000 was a great game for its time and certainly a high point in the NBA Live series). I've still got Michael Jordan in Flight somewhere too.

Agreed, the first NBA Street ranks up there for me as well.

Or maybe the mode featuring Jordan will be complete and playable, unlike in NBA 2K11. I stopped playing that mode because it was Jordan against the Lakers starters, for example. In the Jordan Challenge opposing teams didn't sub because they have no bench players.

It certainly would be nice if 2K could secure likeness rights for everyone but I'm guessing that's not feasible. They can only do what they're legally allowed to do.

Tecmo gets no respect.

And there were four Vs. games, the latter was just called NBA Showdown/'94.

And Jordan was "hidden" in the 16-bit Live's.

And Konami used his exact face for the Roster Guard in In the Zone 2 and got in trouble for it and had to make him white in the next game.

Roster Guard 99 was the bomb in the early Live's.

iirc Kareem and Laimbeer were also a hidden player in those Live's. You enter their name in the CaP screen, input some physical stats and it automatically generates the other details for you.
