Nice to see Timmy in the mix.

J-Smoove had some nice defensive stats, though. Couldn't have gone wrong with either him, KG, or D12 though.

Award should've gone to Howard to make him the first player to win the award thrice in a row.

(Y) What he said

And to make it like IRL. :P
Lamrock wrote:With the Heat on the verge of getting knocked out and this series all but won, it's looking good for the Rox.

Yep, still the WCF to go through, though. Heat was the only team out of all the ones left who gave us trouble in the regular season.

Yep, he maybe needed to add more to his steals category to have won. :?

53% is not brick-shooting by NBA standards. Makes Ariza feel jealous.

IMO, he did get snubbed, but Smith isn't a far-fetched selection either.

Yep. I'm sure he could've had a better chance to win had he not been injured. :(

Houston Rockets 94-81 San Antonio Spurs

Houston, TX - Stating the obvious here, this was a must-win for San Antonio, but the effort they gave in the third quarter was lackadaisical to say the least. Early on, they were giving Houston a bit of trouble; after missing one out of five field goals they made their next five out of six to put them in a good position as the first quarter went on. The Rockets had a four-point lead after one, despite forcing Manu Ginobili to sit out the majority of the quarter due to foul trouble.

San Antonio began to close in on the lead in the second quarter, before Kevin Martin exploded to score 11 of his 26 points in the period. The Rockets scored four triples in the period as well, pulling away to a 53-44 halftime lead.

The Spurs had a forgettable third quarter. Shooting 3/19 from the field, and coughing up the ball five times, they managed to score just nine points, as the Rockets went on a 20-9 run and had a 20-point lead heading into the fourth quarter. "It was a futile effort out there. We were forced into tough shots and unnecessary turnovers, but most of the shots we took were way too early in the shot clock, when we could have shaved off more time to get a better look. Ideally, we would've wanted to go out on a higher note, but shooting poorly in the second half is not the best way to go," Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said.

Things went better for the Spurs in the fourth quarter, but by then it was too late to try and catch up. The Rockets' bench played most of the fourth quarter, which gave Houston's star players quality rest time. "With Duncan, I'm sure this could've been a seven game series. They just didn't have a threatening inside defender to really play effective defense against us. Feels good to finally break the barrier that kept us from advancing two years ago," Yao Ming (14 points, 14 rebounds) said.

For the first time since 1997, the Houston Rockets advance to the Western Conference Finals, where they will meet the winner of the Oklahoma City-Dallas series.

I dislike people who look at the Rockets' 94-95 titles as "flukes" because they didn't beat Jordan (basically you could say the same thing about Bulls), when there was no guarantee that Jordan's Bulls could've stopped Hakeem's Rockets. Especially considering some of the things they went through, like having to come back from 3-1 in 95 having to take TWO games on the road makes it just :o . 97 Finals between those two would've been awesome to watch, and probably silenced those people. I have no idea why the Spurs just could not score in the third. :? They had their chances to take some games this series though, especially game 4. It'd be awesome to not have to travel to a different state for the WCF. (Y)
Larvae wrote:Okay, the Spurs just made a record for least points in a quarter!

Could be a franchise record, maybe not an NBA record.
