A reminder to everybody to PLEASE USE SPOILER (LIKE THIS) option when posting comments on the Draft Lottery. I don't want anybody losing surprise of the lottery. As always, just go down one pick at a time. I'll let you know when it's alright to stop using spoilers, like in a day's time. If your comment is not specific to draft lottery then obviously don't need to use spoiler.

Solid offseason moves in the face of a rather unexciting turn of events with the free agent class. It seems the game still definitely needs a bit of fine tuning in terms of player and coaching movement but hey, at least you can hire and fire coaches in Association Mode and free agency is more deeply represented.

2k definitely needs to continue to refine Association mode. Sadly I think they think it is perfect. But we all know that is not the case. Still great Association mode though

Congrats on winning the lottery! Even in a weak Draft, having three lottery picks obviously offers some intriguing possibilities so I'm interested to see what deals you can swing. I'm guessing you'll be holding on to the first pick unless there's a superstar to be had.

Definitely a good feeling winning the lottery. The draft class has parallels to the one we just had IRL. At number one I get pick of the bunch. There is no clear cut number one but it'll still be a good player. Honestly can't see myself dealing the number one pick. Keen to hold onto number 14 pick too since there are some intriguing prospects at that range. The number 3 pick is probably the one I would be most likely to trade, although unless it's a good deal for a veteran that will help me then I may just keep all picks. We'll have to see what happens. Btw, I think Andrew Andrew is probably too much of a stretch at 3 & probably won't be around at 14, so only option would be to move down. Not sure what will happen, but will be very interesting I'd say.

Two PF's (a position I've already got 3 good ones in), one SF and one C (who only has size of a PF ).

I highly doubt I would package 3 & 14 to move up one pick. I don't have a 2nd Round pick this year. Potentially I could package the #3 pick with a player for #2 & future 1st/player. If I can, I want to keep 14. As I said to Andrew, some intriguing prospects there that could make solid role players.

Great job getting the 1st and the 3rd pick as well!!! You could trigger a deal for a good player with that #3 and #14 picks if there's not many great players in the draft.

I can't believe it. After all those times in your dynasties, getting the best odds and picking fourth, the luck of the (fighting) Irish is finally there. Awesome GM'ing by Kahn got you here and you're in an excellent position. I'd recommend dealing either #1 or #3 for an all-star caliber player

btw, you taking notes on how to run a franchise, -hova?

Cheers, but as we know Kahn can still Kahn it yet. I'll have to see what's available & on offer for those picks. I'm leaning towards keeping the #1 pick & dealing #3 at this stage.

You will remember that this isn't the first time I've won the top pick, it's actually the second time. I picked Guy Dumars back for Bobcats at number 1 I believe. I bit the bullet & went for need & the fact I liked him more than the overrated number 1 prospect Priest Askins.

I agree, when you got first & third I don't think I need to move up one spot to two. I've got five prospects total that I'd be interested in picking at 1, 3 & 14. If I can't nabbed three of those five then I will trade out of that pick. That's more or less where I'm at with this draft.

hova, I got no competition with you. I just hope we both build successful teams that can compete for years to come. I think Lamrock just wants to see a successful Seattle Supersonics team. I like Chase but hope you can get a dynamic frontcourt performer.

As for getting the best ouf the three lottery picks, we'll have to see how the draft pans out first. Like most drafts you don't really know straight away whether it's a success. I had seller's remorse after last year's draft on giving up Chuck Smith since Bradley really struggled early. But as I got use to him I didn't regret it as much. Of course I had one eye on the standings & seeing Raptors stumble down the stretch made me happy. Don't know why Toronto didn't start Chuck, team played so much better when he was on the court for them than Barbosa.

As for getting that one veteran All-Star, these things are always easier said than done. I guess what nobody knows is that I flirted with the idea of dealing Beasley in deals for Danny Granger or Andrew Bogut last season. The latter just didn't seem right to do to Bucks since as Stephen A. Smith remembers, Bucks have 80 small forwards (so much so that both their 1st Round pick SF's spent season in D-League including a quality player in Richie Strickland that I thought about drafting if Svensson or Nunez wasn't there at 6). As for Granger, I almost pulled the deal but in the end his age (around 30) soured me on him even though I thought he would've been a nice fit. I'm kinda glad I didn't because the Cavs never would've dealt for him & made their miraculous 2012 title winning run

I've got a fair idea of who I like. As for who I'm leaning towards picking at number one, well I won't give that one away, where's the fun in that?

In the draft I usually have targets but as you saw last draft, I picked somebody (i.e. Floyd Bradley) who definitely wasn't an option. I only picked him due to trades that arose & picked the best available player.

Actually that's quite amazing. Granger made the Cavs champ and you almost tried to trade for him. Now his inofficial trade value has certainly gone up to heights that you needed to give up a lot for him (not in the game, but just in this whole multiverse).

Before Beasley's game took off in second half of season, I used trade finder. The Danny Granger deal was the one that intrigued me the most.

And you are right, I wouldn't dare try to trade for him now. I'm hoping to see him and Jin Lam start together next season.

Coming up to the draft, I was thinking about how I would rank some of my previous draft picks (based on fun factor, impact, career progression & how they went relative to draft position) throughout my Live & 2k dynasties & Associations. Please note that I have left out real life prospects since they're not as fun It'd probably look something like this:

C- "That Guy" Dumars (#4 pick) - Live '05 Bobcats (You were right Lamrock, That Guy was a #4 pick. For some reason I thought he was #1. Looks like I wanted Iwanaka but I hit the jackpot when Dumars landed in my lap. He delivered everything I could ever want & became a cult hero. He won ROY for me)

PF- Jay Wright (#24 pick) - Live '04 Nuggets (he was probably the biggest gamble I've made. He was projected a mid-2nd Round pick & I took him late in the 1st on a guaranteed deal. He was rated terribly, like high 40's or low 50's & his potential wasn't that great. Funnily enough he was my 11th or 12th man through his entire rookie contract but showed something at the end of that time so I re-signed him. He somehow made a career jump (ratings went to low 70's) when he hit about 26/27 & became my starting PF & a solid player,ala Antonio Davis. He was somebody with little talent compared to a lot of other guys on this list but he had heart & it carried him to a good NBA career. He turned good enough for me to deal away Nene)

SG- Kwesi Wilkinson (#8 pick) - Live '04 Nuggets (a rich man's Kerry Kittles is how I would describe him. All Rookie 1st Team & made the All-Star team two or three times)

PF- Johan Svensson (#6 pick) - 2k11 T-wolves (this one was a toss up but he is edged by Jay Wright but he'll jump above him in a season or two if he continues to improve All Rookie 2nd Team)

SG- Andrew Watson (#31 pick) - Live '05 Bobcats (my team was so bad Watson started as a sophomore & averaged double figures All Rookie 2nd Team)

PG- Floyd Bradley (#3 pick) - 2k11 T-wolves (has talent but his game needs more maturity. Has shown great flashes of potential, let's hope he builds upon it & doesn't end up like the next guy on this list. All Rookie 1st Team)

PG- Felton Lindow (#1 pick) - Live '04 Nuggets (helped lead me to a surprising title as a rookie & won Finals MVP over Melo. He never improved after that & played most of his career as a backup PG. I think he was ROY or at least All-Rookie 1st Team)

C- Cosmo Farrell (#14 pick) - Live '04 Nuggets (exciting big man who like to dunk & block shots. A joy to have)

C- Cuba Quaid (#11 pick) - Live '04 Nuggets (picked as a potential future starting centre & that's what he became)

SG- Andrew Watson (#34 pick) - Live '06 Blazers (this rendition just didn't have the heart of the Bobcats version)

PF/SF- Severin Harding (#6 pick) - Live '06 Blazers (easily my worst ever draft pick. He was projected as a late lottery pick & I did reach a bit but I was intrigued by him. Big, big mistake)

Steven E. Smith: “I liken this pick to taking the nice girl to the prom that you know will never put out. She’s nice & all, but she ain’t gonna put out. Take the girl that will put out. Severin is the nice girl, but LaMarcus will put out for the team that decides to take him to the prom.”

Wow, awesome coverage. The draft is by far my favourite part of pretty much any NBA game, hell maybe of the NBA itself. I could read an entire association story about nothing but drafts but I like that you always put such a high emphasis on covering it.

Thanks, I always strive to recreate my favourite parts of draft. I've been hooked on drafts since 1996 & seeing the excitement generated on Sportscenter after watching March Madness for the first time a few months before that.
