Sadly no. I expect he'll catch on with a team as a free agent though. IMHO he'll make a good, solid role player ala Shandon Anderson.

I was really happy with how Denver went in the draft. When the 22nd pick came around, I was pretty much chanting Faried in my head, so I'm glad that ended up happening, plus I think Jordan Hamilton could be a steal as well. It'll be an interesting season to see how they both pan out and what kind of role Andre Miller gets. I'll be paying close attention to the Kings as well with Jimmer Fredette and Tyler Honeycutt.

Damn, maybe I should declare for next year's draft

Timberwolves Draft Pick Tanguy Ngombo Lied About His Age, Spelling Of Tanguy

The Minnesota Timberwolves seemed to have a pretty good showing in the 2011 NBA Draft. They drafted second-best player in the draft Derrick Williams with the second pick, traded down a few times for cash and the ability to get good value with UCLA guard Malcolm Lee and then acquired a player Targuy Ngombo in the waning moments of the second round.

Except Targuy Ngombo is actually Tanguy Alban Harrys Ngombo, a soon-to-be 27-year-old forward who apparently duped everyone on his way to hearing his name called by Adam Silver on Thursday night.

Ngombo was first brought to the mainstream's attention by Jonathan Givony of Draft Express earlier in the week when he mentioned there was a good chance that the Congolese native could get drafted out of Qatar (stay with me now). Timberwolves scout Pete Philo apparently discovered Ngombo and convinced Kahn he was worthy of a draft pick while assuming the small forward was only 21 as it says on his NBA.com page.

New revelations have shown that Ngombo is actually 26, a fact easily confirmed by looking at Qatar's roster on the FIBA website in anticipation of the 2012 Olympics in London. This makes Ngombo ineligible to be drafted according to both Givony and ESPN's John Hollinger.

I doubt he'll be banned from the NBA, but I'm guessing it means his Draft rights are null and void, so the records might be amended to show no pick at the 57th spot in 2011 and the only way he'll be able to play in the NBA is if he's offered a contract as an undrafted free agent.

Doubt it. This is the same guy who got dropped as the 11th man on the Perth Wildcats roster last season.

Yep, he stinks. He did get picked up by the Blaze but only played spot minutes. The game I was at the Blaze actually played a 4 guard, 1 forward lineup after their big fouled out & the coach wisely refused to put him in the game. He couldn't catch the ball, if you sneezed on him you'd break his legs & I believe one of his jump shots went over the top of the backboard

I wasn't speculating, it was Givony or one of those guys on twitter who said he did well. Someone else was asking why on earth he was picked.

It means the Wolves have a terrible and lazy scout.

Blame Kahn! lol. Oh I remember this guy playing with the Qatar National Team in FIBA-ASIA championship. It was held here in the Philippines.

does anybody think the Wolves can get away with a super small Nellie lineup with Love/Beasley/Williams/Johnson/Rubio? or will Beasley/Williams come off the bench and start Darko at C?

Re: 2011 NBA Draft: Motors, Length, Potential and Not at MSG

Mon Jun 27, 2011 5:37 am

I wouldn't call it super small, since Johnson and Williams are a 3 and 4 respectively. I reckon they go with a Love-Beasley-Johnson-some shitty SG-Rubio starting 5 with Williams coming off the bench for Beasley because they are a bad franchise. Would they get away with it? Well, I wouldn't call 15 and 17 win seasons "getting away" with Darko at the 5...

Didn't Darko shine in a few games? He seemed like a good blocker and somewhat poses a threat downlow when he's healthy and focused. I think he could have had a much better career if he forgot about whole being a bust thing early and moved on to better himself in areas he's talented at.

With a legit scorer, I could imagine them with what is somewhat close to a complete roster that could contend for a playoffs spot.

His numbers across the board weren't too bad, with his blocking being the clear standout. It's probably fair enough to say he had his moments but he didn't exactly turn in a star performance for them last year.

That has nothing to do with Darko's problems.

I doubt it since the combined defensive basketball I.Q. of that lineup would be -47 with Johnson bringing that average up slightly.

Love/Randolph/Beasley/Williams/Johnson. That's your lineup.
