Sweet-shooting Jones Signs with New YorkAugust 5, 2011New York, NY -- Free agent forward James Jones told the New York Post yesterday he will join the Knicks. He
accepted the veteran's minimum of $1.36 million this season, the newspaper reported.
Jones played for the star-studded Miami Heat last season which resulted in a career-low, 3.9 minutes per
game. The 31-year old from the University of Miami was relegated to an average of just 2.1 points and
dropped his three-point percentage from .411 in the 2009-10 season to .338 last year.
"At the end of the day," Jones, who will be wearing number 44, told the newspaper, "I felt like I had the
ultimate opportunity here. To me, this can be my redemption year."
Jones' shooting will be of great use to Mike D' Antoni who is known for his love with the three-point shot.
New York now has 14 players on their roster.

I'm always rooting for Kwame to become better. Really hoped when the Lakers dealt him for Gasol that he could've used that time on a cellar dweller to play without a whole lot of pressure, learn to relax a bit, that the staff would let him make mistakes so he could develop his offense a bit. Alas, nah.
James Jones might be a nice pickup too.

█ Green Starts Anew in New JerseyPosted: 8/16/2011 11:45:00 AMThe Nets have added another promising young player in the form of versatile forward Jeff Green.
Green had the chance to return to OKC after the Celtics opted not to re-sign him but the promises of success by Russian billionaire Mikhail Prokhorov and rap icon Jay-Z were too much to resist. He readily agreed to a 4-year contract worth $41.86 million.
The 25-year old averaged 13.2 points, 1.3 steals and a career-high 7.5 rebounds per game last season while playing for the Boston Celtics.
Green is expected to start for the Nets alongside Deron Williams, Brook Lopez, Leandro Barbosa and Travis Outlaw.Click Here to see the full article._______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________█ Knicks-Bobcats Deal in the Works?Posted: 8/15/2011 01:18:00 PMAccording to various sources, the Knicks front office have engaged in trade talks with the Charlotte Bobcats in hopes of trimming their salary cap for the 2012 offseason which features a star-studded list of free agents.
The likes of Chris Paul, Dwight Howard and Deron Williams are likely to test the free agency waters and New York would love to be a power player come 2012.
"By the looks of it, they are preparing to sign another major player come 2012," said an NBA executive who wished to remain anonymous. "It wouldn't surprise me if they get the job done, who wouldn't want to play in New York? The bright lights in Broadway is too much to pass up on."Click Here to see the full article.

Me too.. I've been rooting for the guy since his Wizard days.. He might not live up to expectations for a number 1 draft pick but I believe he has had a fairly decent career. Besides, you can't just pick up 6-11 270 lb guys from nowhere.

that shouldn't be the selling point...who cares about the city? u have to sell the players they will be playing with
something like,
"Who wouldn't want to play for the Knicks? Playing along side one of the top big men in the league and a dynamic scoring wing.....its too much to pass up on the change to play with Kwame Brown and James Jones"

It sorta is, would the Big 3 choose Miami or Minnesota?

Balkman, Rautins Sent to Bobcats; Carter Re-SignedAugust 20, 2011New York, NY -- The Knicks continued their plan to deduct salaries going into the 2012 offseason after striking
a deal with the Charlotte Bobcats. New York sent Renaldo Balkman, Andy Rautins, their 2012 second round and
2013 first round picks to Charlotte for D.J. White and the Bobcats' 2013 first round pick.
Balkman, whose contract runs up to 2012-13 season, often complained of his role last season in New York while
former Syracuse standout Andy Rautins, just couldn't crack D'Antoni's rotation.
Meanwhile, D.J. White, who has an expiring contract, appeared in 82 games last season and will be New York's
insurance policy if an injury occurs to their front court.
Aside from the trade, the Knicks made another roster move when they re-signed veteran point guard Anthony
Carter to a 1-year deal. Carter is expected to battle with rookie Isaiah Thomas for the back-up point role while
Toney Douglas continues to recuperate from his injury.
The Knicks have 14 players on their roster. Training camp will start on September.

At first i thought it was Vince Carter
But then when i read your post, it was Anthony Carter
Sending Balkman and Rautins is a pretty good move.

Exactly, I mean having a Melo and Stat as teammates is a great selling point, but playing in the "Mecca of Basketball" as they say is the icing on the cake. It's not a secret that several NBA stars of today would choose to play in a bigger market if given a chance.
KidJustin wrote:...it was a joke to promote Kwame...

I'm really not looking for Kwame to blossom into a star, I just want him to play some decent D and get some rebounds and his salary is affordable. Plus it's better Kwame than re-signing Jared Jeffries to be my back-up big man.
