The Injuries:



- It was only the 1st game of the season when starting SG Ronny Turiaf tore his MCL. The injury was so bad that it caused him to miss the remainder of the season.

- On March 1, lightning struck twice as backup C Ekpe also suffered a torn MCL while playing against the Orlando Magic. The injury will sideline him for 1-2 months.

SAN ANTONIO, FL -- The Veterans made believers out of everyone when they finally got over the hump; finishing the Boston Celtics in 6 games on their way to their first NBA Championship. Since 2005

Manu Ginobli was just too much for the Celtics big men to handle. He averaged 19.3 points and 3.5 rebounds during the series, on his way to winning his first Bill Russell NBA Finals MVP award.

It was not an easy journey for the San Antonio; playing in 28 games in order to capture the elusive title.

San Antonio squandered a 3-0 series lead against a resilient Lakers team in the opening round. They picked up the slack and demolished New York in the deciding Game 6, winning it by 29 points.

The West finals was no different as the Boston Celtics led by the original Big 3 (Garnett, Pierce and Allen) also pushed them to the limit. But the Magic seemed to step it up a notch when it matters most, as they once again won their Game 6 decisively, 104-81.

"You just can't imagine how happy I am, this has got to be the greatest feeling in the world," Howard exclaimed. "We would definitely try and defend this title next season."
