This site is packed with features to better assist the patchers and the ones looking for patches. An article section that will include articles on "What is Modding" and "How to use REDitor" or even "How to create a Cyber-Face" by some of the most well-respected members in this community. Apart from that, we will be having a download section in our site JUST FOR NBA 2k patches similar to that of ModdingWay.
The reason we plan on using the download section of the site, is for multiple positive reasons:
It allows for an organized way for people searching for patches to find a particular item or even find one that they didn't know it existed because of the mess that is a thread.
It allows for a rating system which members can vote from a scale of 1-5 and thus finally end the debate of "Which version of Kobe is better", this also allows members to sort the list and find the highest rated downloads.
After you upload a file to the download system, an admin or moderator needs to approve of these files. This way, people can not upload a file from another member and thus claim it is theirs.
A new thread is automatically generated in the "Releases" section of this forum once you upload a file, the thread is used for further discussion of that patch.
Every download has the author (or creator) of the patch on the right hand side with a link to your profile. Apart from this, people can go to your profile, select the files tab in your profile and then see every download you offer on the download portion of the site. This is good for fans of a certain patcher or to see other works by that patcher.
There is a feature that we call a "Change Log" which logs every single change done to the file. Let's say for example you want to release a pack of CF's for the Dream Team. You only have 9/12 available so you upload that as Version 1 on the download section. When you finish with the other 3, you can upload it to the same file on the download section and call it version 2. Which you can then write what changed you have done. This can also be used for a CF you edit multiple times to get the correct proportions (I.E. Jordan CF)
As you can see, we have done our best to make this site a one-stop shop for all the modding needs. Now apart from the download section, we have other features such as an improved PM system (in which Private Messages are changed to "Conversations" which look better and feel more flexible, apart from that you can have a group conversation with up to 5 different members, that way when somebody writes something, everybody is notified. Think of it as your own personal private thread with just your friends.)
We have also added profiles so they look more visually stunning (You can select your own background, go to my profile to view an example) and also more functional with tabs that show the user's topics started, individual replies posted, blog articles posted (such as tutorials as mentioned above) and files the user has uploaded to the site.
We have also introduced a rating system to our forum which allows people to give a positive rating (for good replies posted or just cause they're cool people) and also negative ratings (for those who cry out and only say "when are you coming out with a release") Once a user accumulates a number of negative votes, they are banned for a series of three days (actually not banned, more like a time-out) then once a user reaches another higher number of negative ratings, they are reported to me and I will decide ban or not ban. This basically is a system that won't allow power to go to the heads of the moderators. This is a fair forum where everyone is treated equal and you have a right to a fair trial sorta speak.
This website has the potential to be something that will revolutionize our community and perhaps even get others involved in patching. As of now, we are open to any questions of feedback that you may have. Perhaps you want cool emoticons added to the list, we can do that. Or there is something you NEED in this site, just go to the suggestions and feedback portion of the site and speak your mind. We are not just a forum, we are a community and every body has a voice.
