No, you don't want that.

If LeBron understands and develops what he can do then there is no point to the league.

It's over.

Since i am from San Antonio,my loyalty to the Spurs is big.It was kind of heartbreaking seeing the Mavericks win the title. With that said...i am also glad they won it.Any team that beat the Heat are alright by me for about two days.Congrats Dallas.See you in October 2012.

of all the teams in the playoffs, i would probably expect the Mavs not to win, but they proved me wrong now (Y) Dirk can retire a happy man now

benji wrote:Actually, one armchair psychoanalysis thing I want to add, that I mentioned months ago after The Decision is that I don't think it went down as the "story" made afterwards. It was, in my opinion, clearly something everyone on that 2004 and 2008 Olympic teams were talking about. Thus Melo and Paul saying similar things on their own. I figure it was some kind of joke "yeah, we should just team up like this" that they slowly all began to take seriously as they got close (Paul, Melo to Conf. Finals, LeBron to both that and Finals, etc.) but never there alone.

And then Wade convinced Bosh to come join him separately. (Maybe even during last season.) And that's when LeBron and the rest of those guys probably took it all seriously. Wade/Riley had convinced one "star" to go to Miami and I think LeBron was convinced this shit was happening so he went. (In on respect, because he loves Wade.) And Melo fled to the Knicks after because Amare was there and he was also convinced this was happening and Paul/Deron/Dwight would be coming next. And they'd battle each other every year like Celtics/Lakers. Melo's problem is that that the rest of this might not happen. You have to be the first guy in these.

I assumed that they became good friends throughout the experience in the Olympics as well, where male bonding happened. Particularly the Heat trio coming from the same draft class...

Not relevant to the benji's post, but it seems Wade had wrong idea that they'd be loved by everyone if they were on the same team just like in the Olympics.

hova- wrote:btw for the Bron haters: Where has D-Wade been in game 6? I thought he played pretty bad, had some costly turnovers and did not attack the rim particularly well.

Wade was frustrating to watch today particularly in the second half. He and Chalmers were definitely aggressive though while Lebron was again being less assertive. From my observation it seemed Lebron once again wanted to be a facilitator too much(too many TO when he did that and offense became stagnant). There was one wide open shot he shyed away from, and put the ball on the floor only to end up a turnover, which was the story of Lebron in this series. By no means, he was terrible, but average at best and definitely lacked that "Taking the Game Over" mentality on the offensive end. I wished to see him taking more than 15 shots a game and getting to line more than twice a game. I think that's what the fans were disappointed about as expectation was higher.

I'm happy for Dirk and Kidd, but Corey Brewer had a heck of a season. Started out on the train-wreck called the Timberwolves and finished with a championship. Stojakovic as well.

"It's the world we live in," he said. "I mean, a couple of years ago, 2008, we were playing for America in the Olympics and we had the support of everybody in America. Now in '11, we don't.

Seriously Wade? How clueless can he get.

Man, you guys are hypocrites. If you actually watched the games, you'd see Wade actually did not play so great, esp in the 4th, sure he was making shots but he missed way more than he did make. The shots LeBron took were mostly last second heaves he had to shoot. The only legit complaint about LeBron's game, is he was not assertive. Yes absolutely but that doesn't mean he didn't do anything. He did other basketball stuff(which in my opinion was not close to enough or good enough, esp with all he did in the previous series) in the series but apparently Mia needed way more scoring from him. Against the bulls and celtics, he was the closer cuz wade was not scoring so hot, and he performed. But in the finals since game 1, Wade came out super aggressive so i guess he gave the main scoring role to Wade. He came out wayyyy to passive and just kept driving to pass not score.

***********IF YOU FIND THIS TOO LONG TO READ, JUST READ THIS PART:::::
But i willl say this,
1) Even with LeBron's not so good performance, he has still outplayed Kobe on his first 9 playoff games. Yeah, he did, and even if they both scored about 19ppg (for the first 9 games) Kobe was less efficient and ofcourse didn't rebound and wasn't the playmaker LeBron was in this series. Look at how he(Kobe) turned out.
2) LeBron James is 26 years old. It is not that serious, calm the fuck down. Micheal Jordan didn't win a championship till he was 28 yrs old. Look at how he(MJ) turned out. Even Kobe didn't lead a team to the championship till he was what, 30?? And it's not like he had a good game in game 7 last finals(LITERALLY THE BIGGEST GAME IN BASKETBALL).

Bottom line, again it's not that serious. The heat, (even after all the shit talking from the begining of the season-even after game 1 loss to the celtics) still got to the finals. Kinda like Kobe and the Lakers got to the finals against the Celtics and lost, but they still came out and won 2 back to back. So chill the fuck out and wait till the end of LeBron's career to do all this championship ring talk.

On the issue of the big 3, you guys have to be fucking kidding me. You say D.Rose didn't have enough help (Boozer and Deng much?), but get mad at a player for taking a once in a lifetime(basketball lifetime that is) to join up with not only his friend, but a top notch basketball player in Wade. like Hova said, they gave up being the man on the team to be one of the men to win, that's a lot to ask for and is kinda why Kobe and Shaq broke up. They never said said they would win immediately,(They said they would win 5 6 7 blah blah blah (I thought that was dumb) but not neccesarily on their first year. They obviously wanted to win now (and it's not like they weren't right there) but they didn't so wait till the trio breaks up till you judge. It's almost like judging a prospect after just their rookie season or judging an NBA trade after a week like the Carmelo thing.

That is all.

Really glad the Mavericks won the championship. It was totally due to all the vets on the team. jonthefon hates me (no idea why he's still fucking pissed off though..) but I admit I misjudged the Mavs, constantly doubting their legitimacy as contenders. Thought I was right when they blew a 23 point lead to a cadaver, but they went 14-3 onwards.

Not a lot to say, other than I'm glad that the Mavs won. Wouldn't have preferred any other non-Blazers team (that made the postseason) to win it.

Re: 2011 NBA Finals: Mavs V. Heat, part deux

Tue Jun 14, 2011 12:33 pm

Well, I'm annoyed by you continually making a broad, generalised assessment of the Mavs as 'overrated', by basing it off practically a single stat (teh point differential!!!1!!), when you should know as a guy who looks into stats, that using one statistic as the crux of your argument without considering trends elsewhere three straight seasons of great records in close games; high offensive efficiency late in games, and so on), is a pretty poor strategy.

But of course I'm over it now. Sorry for coming off as a tremendously argumentative asshat...which I sorta am

Congrats to the Mavericks, really happy for ason..Jason Kidd. The man got a J...and how.

Haha at the Heat mocking Dirk being sick before game 6 then limping off the court and Bosh on his knees in the tunnel. Agreed with The X, who cares if stars sign with eachother? Heck I hope Dwight Howard gets to play with someone like Chris Paul.

What I do dislike is the childishness of these guys. The sense of entitlement they carry around with them. It's an elimination game and you are mocking the opposing teams best player as if you have already won the championship? The whole hooplah about them signing the "big three"? Lebron promising to be the chosen one to bring a championship to a city then just quitting against Boston when it was tough? Piss off.

I'm a Miami born guy, I go back almost every year but the way the "big three" are...laughable. They will win, they will be super successful...but I still won't like them a bit.

Congrats to the Mavs once again, JJ Barea and Dirk making some of the shots they ended up making was a treat to watch as a basketball fan.
