Flashhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O5Wnc8OyUj0Flashhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hQv-kYsclSMFinally caught up with the first seven episodes last night and the eighth episode this afternoon. Very entertaining, needless to say the production values are pretty damn good and for the most part they've done a good job of sticking to the canon (not an easy task, as it's become more complicated and undergone a few retcons as the years have gone by) while taking a few liberties here and there to make things interesting. I really liked the mix of live action and animated segments in the Kitana/Mileena videos, it actually reminded me of Kill Bill and its anime sequences.
That said, I have to admit I wasn't quite as enthused about the Raiden episode, I thought that was an example of the gritty reimagining taken too far. It was certainly interesting, they executed the idea fairly well but I balked a little at the premise. To me, the
concept of an all-powerful deity being restrained by some orderlies and then a straight jacket, then being helplessly tortured has a few inconsistencies and plot holes, kind of a weird marriage between mythology/fantasy and gritty film noir. The ending,
particularly grabbing the hat, was also a little cheesy given the tone it was going for. Still well done and again, an interesting idea but it was my least favourite episode so far.
