well, like i said about the 76ers coach hiring last year, it wasn't the best move, but at least it gets him of off tnt

Edited the first post with a working link and a better title. "new rocket head coach of the rockets" is a little redundant.

I wouldn't call it a brilliant move as McHale is not an experienced or highly successful NBA head coach, but for now I'd say keep an open mind about it. His 39-55 record as a head coach is far from stellar but he'll have a better roster to work with in Houston than he did when he filled in on the sidelines in Minnesota.

I'm a little doubtful about this. Morey was dumb enough trading Battier and letting Adelman go, now he goes and hires an inexperienced head coach? Don't know McHale's coaching preferences, but hopefully the Rockets can still stay competitive next season.

Battier is a free agent this offseason, so it's possible they weren't that confident he'd re-sign and sought to get something for him while they could. Keeping Adelman would've been preferable to hiring McHale but with the falling out behind the scenes that obviously wasn't feasible.

Yeah, he really would have helped them in the playoffs this year.

Worked out pretty well the last time they hired an "inexperienced" coach.
