How to convert .rmvb to mpeg, Avi etc.....?

I have like 40 Laker games on my computer, and I like to make mixtapes of them, but some are in .rmvb instead of mpeg, and WIndows Movie Maker doesnt recognize the filetype.

Ive tried to download some converters from download.com but they dont work, or they are a max 10mb or something trial version.

Any of you know where I can get a full converter program? its ok if it is a 10 day trial or something, aslong as I dont get the ... max mb thing.
