Pacers interested in Brown, Adelman for coach job

Wed May 18, 2011 11:03 am

...though Vogel is still apparently the front-runner.

Indiana Pacers president Larry Bird said interim coach Frank Vogel, Mike Brown and Rick Adelman are among candidates he wants to talk to about filling the head coaching position.

Bird said Vogel is the front-runner. He took over at midseason when the Pacers fired Jim O’Brien, finished the regular season with a 20-18 record and led the team to the playoffs.

But he made no guarantees.

“A lot of people out there feel like Frank’s probably going to get the job, but it’s a process,” Bird said Tuesday. “We want to do everything we can possibly do to get the right guy in.”

Adelman of course has also been linked to the Lakers' vacancy and supposedly that's a strong possibility if Shaw doesn't get the nod. Vogel did a pretty good job after taking over this season, if I were Bird I'd stick with him.

Maybe Mike brown would be a good fit for the Pacers, he would get to work with another star small forward, Danny Granger.

Granger's no scrub, but he's not LeBron James. Brown might be a good fit but probably no better than the guy that's already there and had them playing pretty well after he took over.
